Superlumunal ~ chase Esca Falz Mother phase1
Zero-G

I remember going through the playlist and getting really sick of Zero-G after hearing it a bunch of times in a row over multiple playlist listenings. Thank goodness the mix just combines them all into one nice package so I can ignore everything else.

Superluminal [9]
Zero-G [8.5]
Yamato [7.5]

Mothership Probe (Scenery)

i wonder if i'd be as into superliminal if i hadn't seen that crazy video with jun senoue at the concert in it...just the contrast of these [support for theory jun senoue ghostwrites for horita at those 'melodic' parts] moments with the over-the-top prog post-tonal weirdness somehow both in the same song. like senoue and horita seem like among the most opposite musicians in my head, but there they are on stage together, and this song (even if is actually all horita) feels like it encapsulates their polar opposite tendencies merged together in one place and it's a wonderful feeling. the Chaos and Normal men working together to produce the proggiest anime op of all time

Steel Gale Operation ~ Phantasical Battleship Yamato 1 is pretty cool b ut sounds like it should be in vol9-10(episode6) what the fuck now i understand why everyone was guessing hideaki kobayashi for all the songs that were really loud. the clicky glitchy idm noises at the less loud parts are really fun and sound like a computer or metroids

Oh here we go. Mothership Probe (Scenery) {Mitsuharu Fukuyama}. the FIRST PSO2 SONG THAT I HEARD (i think?) very shortly after this song came out. i had heard "pso" music before for a long time already, and had already knew i liked hideaki kobayshi from other places like "sonic advance 3" and stuff too. but this blew everything i'd heard from pso series out of the water and made me realize that i had to figure out who this "Mitsuharu Fukuyama" person was too if they could somehow feel even more futuristic and full than anything i'd heard before. i knew i wanted to listen to all of pso2 but didn't know where to start since it was so much (and it would only have been up to vol3 at that time!!). but after hearing all 500 other songs in pso2 finally like 6 years later, it still holds up as among the best tracks of them all for me

zero-g is so catchy and reminds me of a lot of pictures of the moon hmm i have decided that this is produced too loud but i neve thought that my entire life before. anyways this is one of the most memorable pso songs and people act like it's the main dish of classic choice for a reason; pso2 being my favorite ost is for very different reasons from p3ople like dante or even deo, but i do "get" it, this is a genius core of all bibliography oh man the voice moment at 4:10 is so good. these fierce piano and synth energetic molten and OH MAN i always forget about the Ar Tonelico part at 6:10 (and the whole end) that part jumps this tracks up so many nnotches. this time around for the FIRSt time i am actually digging the actual melodic content tho, i dont focus on that as much with this song because i like it more in other songs but i actually think ironically it's simplicity and returning to the same pitch classes a lot is a strength and i'd usually think it's not. but its a melody that depends on everything surrounding it to alter the meaning of what'd otherwise be monotonous on its own, and that is STRONG it is the same reason i love kimera 2. on its own the note in the melody are like "not catchy", but when you have the crazy chords (poso2 has those) then suddenly it means something completely new. and how many variants of reality you hear this song thru, it enforces those changes in perception and i like that.

Superluminal
Mothership

Look forward to these being in VGMC next year. I even used the former as an example of how to nom songs in the VGMC for Dummies guide and forgot to use it!
