Police say the men demanded that Rainer give them his IPAD password to unlock it but he refused and that's when Holmes shot him in the chest Rainer then began fighting his attacker and the gunman shot him a second time and hit another woman who lived in the home The suspects then fled with cell phones and his XBOX and Playstation consoles as well as several video games and other electronics When police arrived they found Rainer dead at the bottom of the stairs and the wounded woman, who was also a student was transported to Regional One Health The IPAD was tracked to an INN and the men were found as well as a stolen Jeep Wrangler He is charged with 1st degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, 3 counts of aggravated robbery, burglary Rainer studied English and Music at Rhodes College and was honoured by the college on October 5th where students gathered in a vigil. From the title, I figured he was mugged in an ally or something. But they broke into his home! That's just insane, I wonder if he was targeted? All the conventional wisdom for home burglars is they try to do it when no one's around, that the last thing they want is to deal with is witnesses or assault/murder charges. They may have shot him dead even if he gave them the password, sounds more like a damn hit job than a robbery. Three guys, armed, busting in his house early in the morning. That doesn't even sound like a burglary attempt. That's horrible. If the state has the death penalty, I hope it's employed on all 3 of them.
