Have you?

https://imdb.com/name/nm0000783/

Planning on watching both versions of Suspiria this October starting with the original, watched Deep Red for the first time the other night in anticipation (waiting for the Blu Ray of Suspiria to come in the mail). Other than that Ive only seen Phenomena, which famously inspired the Clock Tower video game series.

I've seen Suspiria (the original, I couldn't finish the remake), Deep Red, and Opera. I really like his style for sure. It's so different without being incomprehensible. :v I need to check out Phenomena for sure.

^This guy.

I saw forty minutes if the 'reimagined' 'Suspiria' and it was dreadful.

It's like a Producer said to the writer/Director "See this classic Argento movie? I want you to do EXACTLY the opposite".

I really couldn't stomach it either. I've thought about going back to try and finish it, it just didn't have the magic of the original at all imo. Like they were almost trying to make a new IP and just slapped the Suspiria name on it. Maybe on it's own I could have liked it.

I've seen a bunch of them.

The Bird With The Crystal Plumage
The Cat O' Nine Tails
Four Flies On Grey Velvet
Deep Red
Suspiria
Inferno
Tenebre
Phenomena
Opera

Suspiria is also one of my all-time favorite films.

Wasnt that like 2012? Operas probably his last golden age movie & that was 25 years earlier, Id definitely watch one of his 70s/80s flicks before writing him off.

For most of Deep Red I was anticipating coming away with a 7/10 verdict & taking the contrarian POV that Phenomenas better but the flashback & elevator scene at the tail end of Deep Red wrapped everything up so perfectly it really heightened my memories of the rest of the film & appreciate the pacing more, atm Id give it at least an 8.5.

While Deep Reds kind of a slow burn with a few extreme murder scenes thrown in Phenomena feels like a total rollercoaster of suspense with a much more hostile setting which makes for a more exciting first watch but also doesnt warrant a rewatch quite as much; the latters ending is still the stuff of nightmares with some of the most appalling imagery of any 80s horror film
