He retired pretty unexpectedly in July and the job posting closed in the very beginning of September. It took a full month from that point for them to finally start scheduling interviews and it's sounds like I'm first up.

Hopefully it goes decently on Monday. Two hour interview followed by a written portion apparently. I'm interested in what the hell will be included in the written "exam".

Do you think they're actually looking at you as a serious hire, or just Michael Scotting you? Do you know what the pay raise would be?

Good luck, mon. I hope you get the position.

I'm definitely being looked at as a serious hire, but if there's a better candidate I wouldn't blame them or the hiring process at all. Having experience with our universities' systems gives me a pretty big leg up on anyone coming from outside and there's only one candidate from the university that I'm aware of and I know I fit the position better than him

The pay raise is another $10k-20k depending on what end of the range I can negotiate myself into if I get the job. That's pretty substantial for me. My wife will still be far and away the bread winner, but it'll help our savings account for sure.
