'so you do IT at a school. What would you describe an actual day like'
Uh... I do everything related to IT. Literally everything. You give me any day since the start of the school year and you'll get a different answer each day.

'ok can you take me through your day from morning to finish'
uh... Which day? Like I can start with 10 teachers emailing me or just 3 or just one teacher asking for me to set up 5 classrooms for certain things or maybe a classroom of students all decided to forget their passwords at once or maybe the principal decides he wants a new technology implemented or maybe I just take it easy and browse reddit. Literally depends on the day

'Well we need to understand what it is your do. Could you maybe describe today for us?'
Let's see, 30 password resets, 4 laptop problems, 2 router replacements, schedule a projector repair and going through emails because there's another harrassment issue with kids.

'Wow and that was all this week?!'
No, in the first hour...

'I'm sorry but there's no way you can manage all of that. You'd need at least 4 people there and you're the only one'
Yeah, it's called being good at your job. Anyway you have a good day now.

Also correct.
They used to literally have to schedule a time before I arrived. Now I just have a script

If you are doing 30 password resets an hour the faculty needs to be fired

TC, are you putting in a lot of extra hours? If so, I would have explained that as well. I was doing the work of 3 people at my old job, but it was only because I was working 60 - 80 hours per week.

Nope
I usually do about 3 hours on average a day at most
I put in two weeks of full time work to get us all up to speed since the envrionment was terrible
Ever since those two weeks I pretty much do maybe 1-3 hours a day at most

You're just bad at interviews dude. Maybe cause it's your first in a while?

Your responses are really scattered and all over the place.. You need to be more organized

How to describe an actual day - "Everyday I start by checking my email for notifications from helpdesk for computer problems to resolve from school staff. I can get anywhere between 5 to +10 a day. I start with the earliest notification ping and work my way up to address as many as I can in a day. They range anything from '..this to this. I'm the only IT person in the school, so my schedule is very busy.

what do you do specifically? I make accounts for new staff, reset passwords, fix router/network issues, etc. I also schedule repairs for equipment and other non related IT tasks

Also I can't tell if you are serious... but never talk bad or say anything that could make your company look bad. Like don't go into personal details with people involved personally. Don't have to bring the harassment issue with kids.

I'm great at interviews when I care
But because I have a job for life I don't care. I just take terrible interviews because it's funny as fuck to waste the time of stupid fucks.
I just don't have any patience for recruiters or companies who have no idea what the fuck they want
the moment I see 'computer science degree required/prefered' I know 'time to piss on them because they're stupid fucks who know nothing'

Well, you don't enjoy your current job, so take it seriously for the positions you are genuinely interested in?

Also, you don't have to meet all the requirements, including the exact degrees. I'm in biopharma and I don't even have a b.s. in a STEM science--but I did get a certificate for biomanufacturing that I earned in a program at a local CC, and I have the skills necessary to do my job.

oh, you see guys, he was being bad at the interview on purpose because those people are just so fucking stupid. he didn't actually WANT that job (because he's so fucking great at the job he has, it's guaranteed FOR LIFE), he just wanted to waste their time for being not as smart as he thinks they ought to be.

Isn't this why you are applying for other jobs and actively attending interviews? You want to move on from your current job for better opportunities?

And just keep applying anyway. I don't get my degree bought up often. Don't talk about it much and it won't be a big deal/focus. I have the years if experience and relevant skills for a job I'm applying to and I don't think it's ever been an issue, or at least not know

So you're afraid of going to another job then because in your mind you can't put in more the minimum effort and think you will be fired for it or something?

We all get complacent in a job (or most do). But I warn you that the goal posts with management can change easily to make you put in more effort too. Anyways, Just take a shot dude. Better pay, benefits and a more challenging workspace is worth it if you can't advance in your current position and the pay sucks.

Also yeah I've had really idiot recruiters/HR interviewing me as well. One gave me an hrs notice of the interview (bad), was more than 5 minutes late to that interview, and then she just sounded like she had no idea if what she was talking about. She had no knowledge of the industry or how my skills applied to the job and I had to explain everything painfully.
