Im not. Wish I was. I swear my neighbour builds something in his backyard every other day. Today he built his own shed. Kinda makes me feel like a loser.

wouldnt even know where to start. Google how to be a handyman? Wrench sizes?

Is there something around your home that youd like to fix, or some kind of addition youd like to make?

eh, barely. i can fix basic shit around the house, mostly with help from YouTube. a lot of things are a lot simpler than i would have guessed. like, i replaced a dishwasher without much trouble at all. i've fixed broken steam mops, replaced bathroom fans, and other small jobs like that.

Start with simple home projects and gradually move to more complex ones. Stuff like installing ceramic tiles or painting are fairly easy. There's plenty of home renovation youtube channels you can find inspiration. It also costs money. Gotta buy a bunch of tools that will only be used rarely.

I can assemble things that come in a box with instructions, but I don't mess with appliances or things attached to the building. And I don't do anything with cars other than drive them.

Nope. I'm okay at assembling furniture at least (caveat: I must put something on upside down at least once on every project) and a couple other little things but I do wish I was handy. I'm getting a smart thermostat soon and my co-worker said it was damn easy to set up, all you really do is connect a couple wires and put it on the wall, but I'm still like, nope, not messing with wires lol.

I'm even really paranoid about hanging stuff on the wall, because I'm bad at being precise, or think I'll pick the wrong vertical spot, or will have to shift/replace the furniture and it'll be stuck looking stupid, etc etc.

Same thing with painting, which is weird, because I actually helped my dad paint an entire house a few years ago and was fine with it, but when it's MY house, I'm internally convinced it'll somehow have streak marks or some other bullshit. I have no idea. Probably because it's also new construction; any do-over or slight blemish feels really noticeable.

To respond to TC, though, start really small. Same with all hobbies/skills, really. Find a youtube tutorial or a book and build a toolbox or a birdhouse or something, like high school shop class - you'll develop all the essential things with something that's 0 pressure, if you screw it up you can throw it out. You can probably even take a shop classic at a local community college or something.
