I still can't believe you're sticking with that path Shine, lol.

The idea of having 2 classes to 50 before finishing ARR is crazy, much less 3. Not to mention doing almost any regular tier sidequests, much less all of them.

But God speed, you're experiencing content that 95% of the newer player base never even glanced at. You will truly be the most well traveled of us all.

But yeah, two noteable story beats in ARR prior to the patches sounds about right, almost certain I can guess what they were. Even in the patches, there's really only 2 well regarded beats there as well. And the last one is an hour long cutscene!

Once you finish ARR the game almost never let's off the breaks other than the very first section of Stormblood, which...kind of feels like you're playing ARR again <_<

I just started playing that a bit over a month ago myself

At the very least you will have a faster/easier time getting through the expansions doing the 'every quest ever' strategy because they vastly decreased the amount of side quests from Heavensward on, and some of them even have pretty good stories compared to basically none of them in ARR. But yeah, definitely extremely insane to do it!

I haven't played XI, XIII, XIV, and XV.
So in my book, yes. It's better than XII which felt like a drab and single player MMO.

Did you play The Zodiac Age version?
It VASTLY improves the game. I also found the original 12 really boring to play, but TZA improves it to the degree its actually quite good.

It still has other problems like the story being kinda bland and such but the gameplay isn't boring anymore IMO.

That said I still don't think its better than 10 or most of the older FFs. But I wouldn't consider it bad anymore.

XI is an MMO which doesn't interest me at all
XII I played until the castle infiltration thingy, and then I stopped because it was all incredibly boring
XIII is just aggressively mediocre
XIV is an MMO which doesn't interest me at all
XV is an Action RPG starring a k-pop boyband on a road trip and none of that was appealing to me so I didn't even try it yet so who knows, maybe it's great... Somehow I doubt it...

So as of right now, I'd say that yes, FFX is that last great (or even good) Final Fantasy...

Just the original. How does it improve on the original, gameplay-wise? My main gripe about the gameplay (as far as I remember) was just it was quite awkward to play with all the ATB waiting with the enemies being on screen all the time. And the gambit system played the game on its own but was meddlesome and slow to set up due to needing to purchase the good gambits.

I am curious too. Raka's issues are my main gripes as well. Only making money off enemy drops is kinda bleh too.

Oh, and the freaking license board. I hope Zodiac Age does what the Sphere Grid did and keep people in defined jobs. In the original, I just kinda didn't get what each weapon or armor was trying to be. Best I managed was certain magic types to certain people...

It improves it in an absolute crap ton of ways, it's kind of hard to go into them all. I'm definitely not going to remember them all here.

The gambit system still is kind of finnicky, but they added a lot of ways to use it better. First off, you can buy all gambits as soon as you get out of the waterways at the beginning of the game (provided you get the money) and you don't find any in chests anymore. They added quite a few new ones, and in the most recent versions of the game, you are able to swap between 3 different sets of gambits so you don't have to redo them entirely when you want someone to do something different for a bit.

They added a 2x and 4x turbo option to speed everything up which helps massively both getting around and in combat.

The addition of the customizable job system instead of the 'anyone can do anything' license board makes fights more tactical in who you bring and why.

Quickenings don't cost MP anymore and instead use their own gauge. Also you have full control over guest characters and Espers, unlike the original game.

And just general rebalancing of all the enemies to make areas less frustrating.

It's by far the most they've ever remade gameplay systems for any rerelease unless you count FF7R which is literally a different genre and gameplay system entirely. It's absolutely worth another shot even if you disliked the gameplay of the original.

Sadly no not really, kinda doubt it was possible to fix that without re-recording all of the lines.
They did redo the entire musical score though so there's that at least.

XI: I personally think XI, at least when I played from base through Promathia was a bad game. Maybe future expansions made it better but beyond just the gameplay itself it was run pretty poorly by Square at the start. If you've played something like WoW and think inflation and rmt is bad in that game, early XI was a disaster. To Square's credit they eventually did something about it.

XII: Is just a bit too bland overall to be considered good.

XIII: The premise of 13 is good and I think it probably has maybe the most realized cast in the franchise from what I've played for their SP titles. That said, the actual execution of the story is pretty trash. I enjoyed XIII-2, but not really as much as I think other people did. LR i think was a great game.

XIV: I'm currently almost done with Stormblood (only have one fight left) before I go into Shadowbringers and overall I like the story but i also think the pacing is maybe a little off. To be fair, part of this is because the power level of my character and others around me are just a lot stronger now then when it was current content so I am going through things faster. At the same time too though I do kind of wish the lore of the world was expanded upon a bit more. I feel like when I compare it to WoW or even something like Elder Scrolls that even if the storytelling in those games are not as good as in FFXIV the pieces around the it stand out.

I have not played XV but i did get the XV car in XIV. that thing is badass.
