Is japan really backwards with minority stuff? yes being gay is still a valid reason to fire an employee in japan there was a manga called blue flag. it was a shonen slice of life series that focused on teens growing up one of the main characters is a gay guy and when his older brother who is also his legal guardian finds out they have a conversation without ever actually addressing the issue but it ends with the brother saying that there are things he can do that as his older brother he will never approve of (being gay) but there is nothing he can do that will ever make him outright disown him that is considered a very progressive stance in japan where as full on acceptance is the progressive stance in north america --- yusketeer ...
