Yeah but I was wondering if there was perhaps another way to explore that room, so I'd exhausted every possibility from that specific entrance
actually there is another slide reel in that archive, but it's a hidden easter egg. You have to send the elevator down by itself, then ride on top of it and jump off on one of the upper balconies

Oh? What does it show? I don't feel like booting the game up just to check

it's the unburned version of the experiment slide from the lab. the one where the guy gets blown up by the prototype artifact.
not really worth it to boot up the game again.

wasn't able to get that slide reel. Couldn't make the jump, but sounds like it's nbd

Made great progress. Got to the three archives, finally finding a way past fire guy. That motherfucker. I discovered that they disappear when the dam breaks almost by accident (one was chasing me at the exact moment it broke). Is there a more elegant way of finding the solution to that that I'm missing?

I'd never actually used or found the submerged structure before which was dumb of me, so I entered it, excited, and...just found another way to the three lights. I'd already found the more complicated method. Jesus.

It looks like the combinations are a red herring(??) and the goal is to extinguish them instead. I did one by dying for the alarm and the other by approaching the area from the other side when you jump off the raft, but haven't been able to reach the third one yet

I'm tantalisingly close, but will leave it for tomorrow.

Oh

The Well ended up being really easy for me because I scoped it out without the artifact first. Then basically jumped down to one of the lower floors and ran for it. I was able to get in there twice.

Seeing the three guys down there I thought it'd be awful but I just ran for it first time

I think the expectation is, you'll go inside the building, get caught, and then be like huh...maybe I'll start over, go inside the building, and just stand at the bottom of the stairs for a while--you can wait there for a long time, because the door closes right behind you (nobody else follows you!). If you do that, you'll wait a couple minutes, and then the dam breaks, and then you'll see them disappear right before you do. Then you'll realize, ahh, maybe I can rush back there somehow, now that they're gone!

A subtle clue is that if you are in another segment as the dam breaks and they go under, you will hear them all scream as they disappear. But I'm pretty sure that just being in one of the the night areas as it's being submerged, getting booted, and seeing their flames have gone out is the main clue. This is basically what you did. Another way is that you can actually enter from the normal location after the water clears out and they just won't be there, so you could find out that way.

Well noticing the lack of music from there while rafting along is what confirmed the theory in the end. Then it was just about figuring a way through the door that connected them

What I liked, once I stopped being a chicken, was how restrained the horror actually was. You're safe in like 95% of the dark world and it's only in specific instances at specific times you'll need to face them. Really only when you are trying to make the hidden archives do they become an issue. At first I thought it would be swarming with them constantly.

Done.

Outstanding. A lot of the complaints here didn't apply to me at all - I never really felt like I had to practice any routes or rush. I guess I did some stuff in a weird order (like not finding the underwater structure until very very late in the game).

I was terrified of those bastards (and I've gone from being scared of them to actively disliking them now given what they did to Prisoner) at first but once I knew their deal and that they were only used in specific places at specific times I got over it - like I said the vast majority of the place is safe. With that said, the Prisoner's hand reaching from the darkness was the biggest jump I got. Bastards.

Much like the main game I guess I took it much slower than many did but I'm fine with that. I love how the combinations were a red herring, although I'd have been more fooled by that had I found the area earlier when I was "supposed" to by swimming through the submerged structure (similarly in the main game I ended up doing the Attlerock like last or something).

The final exchange of info with him and his reaction was so great. This game consistently does so much with so little. It draws big reactions from me with the smallest changes. The swelling of the main theme when showing him my knowledge of the solar system was really emotional.

I still didn't see the changed ending, I'll do that later this week as well as cleaning up the rest of the trophies.

Just some scattered thoughts. But this was genuinely fantastic. As good as anything in the main game.

It does slightly change my perception of the main game. I always thought the Eye was sentient and had deliberately stopped broadcasting to the Nomai, but had done enough to lure them to the system - therefore allowing the Nomai to set things up for me to enter the eye eventhough they wouldn't be able to themselves. But it turns out the Eye would have continued its broadcast were it not for those thunderbastards.

Anyway, much like the rest of the game, 10/10

How full is your ship log for the main game?

It has an effect on what the protagonist can show the Prisoner.

It's not very full. I deleted my save to do the trophy for finishing in one loop. Has some stuff but not a lot.

Finished it. Started an ending rerun then realised Id forgotten everything so Ill do that another time. All in all the DLC was really good except for wandering around in the dark being unsure of where to go. The stealth was fine, I just found it almost impossible to navigate in the Dark World for hours. Also mot sure how they expected you to figure out the invisible bridge, I needed help for that one.

The whole last section was incredibly powerful though, I was almost moved to tears when you share your memories with the Prisoner, and with the last vision as well. Really I just wish it was shorter and more straightforward in that middle region as I really did not enjoy that even though the story, setting, and almost all the gameplay were as good as everything else in the game.

Yeah it was surprisingly lengthy and crucially just as good. I wouldn't even call it a microcosm as some have. In terms of proportion it's more like what Uncharted The Lost Legacy was to Uncharted 4 or Miles Morales was to Spider-Man.

Also not sure how they expected you to figure out the invisible bridge, I needed help for that one.

There was a PowerPoint for this.

Only mistake was that I initially thought it was the original bridge, and that it appeared even if you extinguished the lights or something. Then I rewatched it and paid closer attention

More i think of it the more I'm slightly miffed I didn't discover the vault area earlier via the submerged structure entrance.

The bait and switch of not actually needing the codes ended up being totally lost on me. I really appreciate that tbey did that though.

The bridge I found first. Thats how I found out how to even get to the dream world.

kind of crazy you found that last.

I am definitely not as high on it as you are as I found it way more tedious than the normal game. 10/10 main game and 7/10 DLC

I found out how to get to the dream world by complete happenstance.

I wanted to see how far into the loop the dam broke, so after it did I went into the underwater vault since I knew there was a fire to rest at. I just HAPPENED to be holding an artifact. I had so little time left in the loop after I slept I didn't even know it was a new place, just that the flame in my artifact lit.

Welp I am still playing this, just picked it back up a couple nights ago. I am basically playing this exactly like I did the base game. I think that took me like 2 months to beat!

Currently trying to figure out how the hell to get past that fireplace in Shrouded Woodlands without getting caught. I saw the vision and I've seen the elevator myself, but I get captured every time, even with frights turned off. Must be some other way. I was thinking maybe you could extinguish the fireplace but no luck finding anything to do that yet. I've been super stubborn this whole time, but I'm at the point now where I will gladly accept hints. Last theory: I wonder if it works like the secret passage in the Tower and you have to do something on the overworld.

Also I still haven't been to this "other world" I saw XIII rocks talking about. Feels like something really big I'm missing, presuming he isn't talking about the dream worlds/what I now know is a simulated reality. Any help starting that, like finding the hints needed to initiate that process are appreciated.

Feels like I have about the entire ship log completed but can only open one seal on the vault still. But I have so many puzzle pieces to work with and a free night ahead of me, I'm going to try to finally beat this either tonight or tomorrow.

Hmmm well I've noticed I can walk right through it, like they did in that slide in the Tower's secret passage. I just get caught every time I do. I need to like extinguish the guy standing in front of the fireplace who always catches me or something.

Okay this is a relief. The thing is I still haven't found that shield thing that's being carried in all those slides along with an artifact, and I was thinking maybe that shield is on this other planet or something. Guess not though. Maybe it's not even something I ever pick up, I don't know yet!

I beat it! Spec-tacular.

Figuring out to die at the green fire for the third seal was the most satisfying final puzzle solution ever.

I was confused at the ending when the Hearthian player character gives his own vision the first time, not really realizing I was using the vision torch to do that and not just recieving another vision from the prisoner. (This led me to thinking he was somehow one of the Nomai or something when they got to the Nomai landing in Dark Bramble.) But in hindsight, duh. Thank you Outer Wilds wiki for clearing up any confusion and for putting all the pieces together of the Prisoner's journey.

Time to go beat the main game again! I'd already heard to do this from a podcast, but I also think it would have been pretty obvious to do it after meeting the Prisoner. I'm guessing he'll ne at my campfire!? We'll see what else awaits.
