The days where thrift stores where just giving away game deals are long gone. Swap meets and flea markets too.

Yard sale steals still exist though but are rare.

I was amazed when I went to a mom and pop store and found Crusader of Centy cib for $20 about two years ago

Yeah a lot of charity workers have no idea how valuable stuff is.

Jewelry and heavy metal sure. But you can find things like Lego, Warhammer, Rare Games etc dirt cheap from parents who donated it with no idea of its value.

It isn't cool like a rare video game or anything, but Goodwill is a great place to pick up nice glassware on the cheap. I've got quite a few nice wine or beer glasses for close to nothing that way.

Goodwill has a charitable services spend of about 89% which is pretty solid for a charity. The remaining 11% being salaries and other operational expenses.
