A prehistoric aquatic reptile living in a freshwater lake in Scotland? I don't believe it.

Bigfoot might have existed, but only as an ape that escaped from a roadside zoo or something. If the ape had been there illegally, its escape would not have been reported. I could see the poor animal dying of malnutrition and its body decomposing unseen by human eyes or its remains being eaten by the local wildlife.

It wouldn't be anything for a truck driver to spot a chimpanzee or orangutan crossing the road and unknowingly exaggerate its height. Who first reported seeing a humanoid ape anyway?

Though zombies would be much lower if you specifically mean the reanimated dead type of zombies (or human zombies in general). I just put zombies at one because the cordyceps fungus that caused the Last of Us zombies exists in real life, it just only affects insects.

Zombies are technically already real, it usually happens with insects only tho

To be fair, the Loch Ness Monster or Bigfoot could exist on another planet. Nessie is just a plesiosaur and Bigfoot is just a humanoid ape. One or both could easily exist other planets; possibly even the same one.

2) Zombies - Depends on the definition. TWD? No. 28 Days Later? Possible. TLOU? Definitely possible.

3) Bigfoot - Not COMPLETELY outside the realm of possibility, but HIGHLY unlikely.

4) Nessie - Lol no. A plesiosaur holdout from the cretaceous? Already highly unlikely. But that it's living in a lake and we HAVEN'T found it yet? No.

5) Mermaids - Lmao no. A race of sentient half human, half fish people living under the sea? How would that ever evolve?

6) Ghosts - self explanatory. Magic isn't real, souls aren't real, ergo ghosts cannot be real.

Mermaids exist in that horny sailors mistook sea mammals for women.
Aliens most likely exist.
Bigfoot/Yeti/Chuchuna/etc. could have possibly existed at one point. At some point (Im talking hundreds of years ago) some people might have found fossils of something like Gigantopithicus and told other people, who told other people, and so on until the mention of bones gets lost in the telling. Or maybe mentions of Neanderthals or Denisovans.
Nessie only exists in that there were plesiosaurs millions of years ago, but definitely not anymore.
Ghosts, no way.

1) Aliens. The universe is such a massive place that intelligent life has to have evolved somewhere else. However, the chance that we've been visited by them here in FTL spaceships is very low, Earth is just one planet out of innumerable ones out there, and everything we currently understand about physics indicates that interstellar travel would require extremely immense amounts of energy. Even if there was a highly advanced civilization out there that had the capability to accomplish that, the resource cost of traveling to another planet would mandate a damn good reason for them to visit it.

2) Ghosts. It's such a widely reported phenomenon over all of written history that there has to be something to it, especially the numerous sightings that occur in particular places. It's probably not the actual souls of the dead, but instead some kind of energetic anomaly that affects certain people's brains and causes them to see things that aren't there. I've personally never seen a ghost or the activities of one, but I've been a few places that gave me an inexplicable spooky feeling.

3) Zombies. Many posters here have pointed out that such a thing does exist in the insect world. You'll never see a rotten corpse shambling down the street, however, the process of decomposition would render the muscles inoperative long before then, let alone all of the organs that provide the necessary energy and oxygen for those muscles to work. Theoretically, something like a cordyceps fungus could reanimate a freshly dead human, but our nervous system is much more complex than an insect.

4) Bigfoot. An upright bipedal simian of that size is unlikely to exist, humans with gigantism in that size range usually suffer their entire lives with significant medical problems. It's well known that Andre the Giant drank so much because it was the only way he could deal with his back pain caused by his enormous size. Other giants often have heart problems because of the amount of work it takes to circulate blood through a body of that size. A new species could have evolved solutions to those problems, but we'd have found at least skeletal remains from them were that the case. Upright hominid anatomy just doesn't scale up well beyond normal human size.

5) Nessie. Creatures like that did exist millions of years ago, but conditions on Earth have changed significantly since then. Megalodons couldn't even survive in todays oceans, let alone something like the Loch Ness monster in a lake. Just the amount of food it would require alone would be far more than what Loch Ness could provide it.

6) Mermaids. Completely fantastic, would require a very bizarre evolutionary branch from the earliest hominids.

Alien life is an almost certainty. Bigfoot and Nessie are about the same level of believability, but I find it more plausible that a monkey is hiding in the woods than a giant sea monster is hiding in a lake. I'd put mermaids higher than zombie, but I assume we mean Ariel-level mermaid here. Ghosts are the hardest sell.

I don't see how they couldn't be. A zombie is just animated flesh. Hell, with our level of technology, we could probably crudely puppet a corpse around. A ghost presupposes the entire existence of an afterlife.

The only unrealistic one is mermaids, ghosts I believe could be a individuals experience that can also morph into cultural. Cant say that about mermaids that much since people argue about its physical existence
