If you don't vape, don't start.

Just curious about people's setups and their preferred juice.

I vape on a Smok Nord 2.

So far it's been reliable and the coils are pretty reasonable for replacements but it's a rarity that I need to replace them. I have some new juice coming today which will be a change from my normal fruit flavor profiles.

What do you vape on flavor wise and what with?

I don't vape anymore, but I used to (smoked for about 8 years, then vaped for about 4, with a small time where I did both in the middle).

I started with some cheap generic shitty pen-type vape, though upgraded several times. I forget what mod I was using at the end, but I was using an Aspire Cleito tank.

Started on 24mg (regular nicotine; this was back before salts were a thing), almost immediately jumped down to 18, and stayed at 16 or 18 (depending on which brand I was getting, just whichever the brand had) for a very long time, dropped to 12 and also stayed there a long time, before slowly working my way down. I spent quite a long time on 3 as well. When I went to zero, it wasn't even a week until I just stopped feeling any cravings (my step before that was 0.5mg, but I was only on that for about two weeks).

Washington state limits to 6mg so I kind of miss Ohio for the more lenient level on nicotine content. I imagine you'd get a massive head rush with that level? I didn't even know it was available that high. Anyways, nice little setup. How much do you think you spend per month vaping?

I've tried the step down method with nicotine levels but even at 1.5mg I still feel like I need it. Maybe in the future I'll attempt to go lower, I'm sitting at 6 now - up from 3. Also congrats on your quit!

Yeah i been vaping 50 mg nic salts for about 2 years now. I still get a headrush in the morning if i dont vape for like 8 to 10 hours.

$20 on a pack of 4 disposable pods that last about 3 months.
$15 on a 30 ml nic salt container that lasts about a month

So spending about $21 a month average.

I didn't stop feeling the need for vaping until I was on outright zero nicotine. Even at 0.5mg I still felt the need to keep using it.

The key thing I found was, at the low levels (below 3), you need to step down in small increments. It's kinda like - going from 12mg to 9mg is cutting out 25% of the nicotine, whereas going from say 3mg to 1.5mg is cutting out 50%. I went 3 -> 2 -> 1 -> 0.5 -> 0. And I definitely did notice that the amount I was vaping increased, at least at first, every time I dropped nicotine.

That's actually cheaper than my setup, not bad. None of the stores where I'm at deal with salt unfortunately so I know nothing about it. Is there any benefit to salt outside of price?

Theyre honestly kind of pricey at $15 a pop but they last around two days if you aint fiending so its sort of worth.

Are you trying to quit, or just trying to have a safer habit than smoking? If it's the former, avoid salts like the plague (and not in the way half of America "avoids" it). They're designed for higher nicotine concentrations, and a vape with nicotine salts is far more addictive than even cigarettes as a result.

Has anyone else noticed that a lot of people who start out vaping end up ripping ciggys as soon as they turn 19/21?

I have a friend who was anti tobacco for years. Would give her friends who smoked a ton of shit. Vaped heavy though.

Then the other day I dropped some stuff off at her apartment and she randomly rolls up to my window with a cigarette and announces that shes been smoking for several weeks and its just a thing now.

I swear humans are getting more ridiculous by the year.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that vaping has led to an increase in smoking cigarettes.

Smoking was going down heavily over the years, and then this supposed "alternative" came on the market, and now smoking has gone back up. Wonderful. Us asthmatics that don't smoke appreciate it.

I used to vape with a traditional device (non-pod) until a coworker of mine made me try out his juul. It reminded me very much of a cigarette except stronger. Juuls can go up to 48 mg nic salt iirc.

But yeah it seems the main advantage of nic salts is that you can go much higher nic content without any of the throat burn. Ive tried 24 mg free base before and it was really harsh. Perhaps it is much better with a coil with more resistance though. I attempted it on a sub ohm coil with my traditional vape device (forgot the name of it).

Yeah I talked to a few people that were smokers that looked back on their highschool days with glee, talking about how they could pick up vape products without being 18 years old. Idk the last person didn't even seem self aware that it was probably a bad thing in that case. I stopped smoking forever ago though.

So on the Nord 4 you have the RPM pod and the RPM 2 pod

RPM has like 4 different options, .4 mesh for 25watts, .3Mesh for 15W, Single Coil 1.0 for like 10-12, and Quartz for about the same 10-12
RPM2 that I know of has a Mesh 25-40W, and Dual Coil 15-25W

Really it's personal preference, the RPM 2 coils are more likely to be used for freebase/non-salt nicotine, where the RPM has lower wattage options allowing for Salt Nicotine use that won't murder you

Yeah I'm just vaping now to avoid smoking. I think in the future my gameplan may change back to stepping down to quit but for now not so much. I'll take your advice on that, thanks.

That's the old school way of describing it, while true, most juices you find are going to be about the same thickness anyways... Salt nicotine tends to be a little thinner with a 50/50 PG VG ratio, and traditional is 30/70, most "Traditional/Premium" juice brands contain so much sweetener that they are the consistency of a 50/50

This is also pretty much true, but I will say that 85% of people who are hooked on salt nicotine are people who have devices that are way too strong for it. They key to salt nicotine success is finding an extremely low power device with an above 1.0ohm coil. Most 'Salt Devices' that are being marketed are really not devices I would recommend, as the coils they use are too strong for such a concentrated nicotine.

Salt nicotine is good for someone coming straight off a quite heavy smoking pattern, and or someone who is not a heavy vaper i.e. someone who only wants to hit their device once and sit it down for an extended period of time.

This can often be due to a sensitivity to PG or VG, and using a liquid that's 100% the other one can help. Of course, if the side effects are serious like that, make sure you talk to a doctor about it too rather than just taking my internet advice - but this may be a worthwhile line of discussion to ask them about.

I dont use as many fruity juices, although I consistently find more fruity ones I like. I tend to do dessert flavors now, which are a whole lot harder to find one I like but when i do it is the best tasting thing ever.

I mainly use a golden graham or butterscotch flavors, relatively recently started the dessert and breakfast blends so im still in the process of sampling all the different kinds.
