I've never used a VPN before, but I'm looking into it. Nord and Express are what I've heard of most. Anyone have any experience with these, or recommend something else?

i use torguard because i could get a good deal on it, it works fine most of the time. look for one that's not horribly overpriced and has access points close to where you live for best speeds.

I use PIA (Private Internet Access) because its the cheapest one Ive found that doesnt log user data.

I use proton vpn. Its open source and based in Switzerland which has strong privacy laws.

Mullvad is also great and open source.

These above are centralized services. If you want something decentralized, use Sentinel or Mysterium vpn.

I use ProtonVPN. You can use it for free with limitations. It's a very trustworthy service, easy to use, has good configuration options. Basic plan is $4 a month (charged as $48 a year).

It's nitpicky but I hate their stupid "Special Limited Time Pricing!!" trick they pulled. In fact I just went to their site and it looks like they're still doing it.

You can use any service that's available on F-droid because they have only open source and trusted apps.

Don't use Express VPN. They have partnership with an Israel agency so user's privacy is questionable.

If privacy isn't your concern, you can use whatever. But still I'd recommend to use apps with no logs policy.

Just realize if you want real privacy you'll probably have to pay them in cash via mail, and even that's traceable.

True. Some providers accept bitcoin or other forms for privacy

Yeah I still have it and bought another 2 years because I know it works for what I want even after it came out that it logs stuff. Still it did hide details of its data breaches until it was forced to come clean so know that TC.

i do not have a vpn service. what is the point of them? not trying to hate, i am genuinely asking. the only use i can see is to access exclusive content on netflix, etc. but i heard that video streaming services are cracking down on that?

A lot of us are simply not comfortable with the idea of being spied on by government agencies and hackers who could use our data for a variety of malicious reasons.
