I am out of the loop. I mainly want it to play emulated PS2 games, because a lot of the ones I play(sports) are hard or annoying to play with keyboard.

I feel like any controller with the now generic button layout of the PS2 should work but whatcha thinkin

I'm pretty sure both PS4/PS5 controllers as well as XB1/XSX controllers can be paired with PC so it pretty much boils down to personal preference

I love my 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ for that sort of stuff; used to use an XB1 controller but it feels so much more plasticy. The Pro 2 is out now. I'd recommend it if you think you'd be switching platforms at all, because it greatly improves on that with a toggle. Although the back buttons are very worthwhile too. Works well for PS2 gamestyle, since the layout is the same but the D-Pad is better.

One I have:

One I want:

yeah, sick deal honestly. only find it a pain in the ass since I want to use it for Switch + PC and the pairing is a bit finnickity with Switch. otherwise it's so swank.

Just get wired versions. Even for games where everyone complains about controller problems, wired Switch controllers work just fine.

Do you plug yours into the only USB slot or did you get a splitter?

What do you mean? My PC has 2 USB ports on the front and several on the back that are currently unused.

Switch docks have 3 USB slots.

you can use ps3, ps4, and ps5 controllers on pc, as well as xbox one/series controllers.

you're going to have more compatibility with an xbox controller, and setting up a ps3 controller is kind of bothersome.

Xbox controllers are to go-to because they have built in driver support. A lot of games will default to their button icons too.

Logitech F310. They're like $15 on Amazon. I've had mine for years and it works great.

8BitDo SN30 Pro+

Came here to say this. I absolutely haven't regretted getting one. I have an adapter that lets me use it on my PS3 and PS4 as well.

Xbox One. PS4 has the best controller, but most games don't have Playstation button prompts on PC likely because Microsoft has an OS monopoly on PC games.
