The only time that it works is when superman is mind controlled and he is actively fighting it off. Any other time. Superman is going easy on Batman and Batman is a going crazy.

For the record, here's the entire fight in two videos:

https://youtu.be/zYGPZs7ovsA

https://youtu.be/9-ZYZdEN4g4

As you can see, there are various parts where Batman is just whoopin' Superman's ass, and Superman is clearly not in control when it happens.

You're right, looks like the adaptation wasn't quite as faithful to the source material as I remembered. On one hand the fight did needed to be padded out slightly, simply because all of Batman's dialogue is narration / inner monologue in the GN, so the adaptation now requires him to say it aloud mid-fight. But even so, that extra DBZ-style punchup prior to the kryptonite was definitely unnecessary.

This makes me want to watch the fight. It sounds fun.
The fight itself isn't bad. It's everything else surrounding it that sucks lol

Superman tried to talk some sense into Batman, but Batman wasnt having none of that and basically prison-shanked Supes with kryptonite gas. Everything went all down hill from there.

He was contending with darkness, and in the end he overcame it. That's the payoff of the story. We see him jaded, bitter, broken, spiteful... but in the end, thanks to his encounter with Superman and his realization that the 'god' is practically human, he comes to see his errors. He was going to take a son away from a mother.

He needed perspective. A reason to hope. He found it. That's why he is so full of resolve in Justice League. He found a new calling. To bring the world's defenders together rather than treat them as potential threats. That way... the invaders aren't stronger than humanity anymore. Humanity will have the Justice League.

If the film's presentation is laughable, the film's presentation is laughable.

If you enjoyed it, that's fine.

But trying to convince people that they missed the movie's subtle hidden depth is an uphill battle. You could dive into that film feet first and without getting the heels of your socks wet.

Eh , it starts out very strong but then tapers out with 1.) repetition, & 2.) junk like doomsday

could have been darker in how they handled punchlines at the end

sort of a limp movie after the opening

I've been at it for years. It's difficult, but worth doing. A few people I've talked to have actually watched it again (ultimate edition, not theatrical) and realized that there's more effort put into the story and characters than most people realize. There's plenty to love when you watch it a few times and really, really immerse yourself in it. You have to care about the characters as the movie presents them rather than wishing they were the versions you want them to be.

It's not standard superhero stuff. It's a drama involving superheroes. I love it. The only real complaint I have with BvS:UE is that Lois is a pretty bland character, but she was the weakest part of MoS, too.
