I got my first one in 2016. That was one of the biggest waste of times ever. For two days, they just had us sitting around in a lobby and going on a recessive and coming back at a certain time, sent us home, repeat for the next day, then interviewed us at the end and I didn't even get chosen after all of that.

The second time I got one they didn't say my number when you call to make sure you have to attend, so I didn't have to go.

The second time, they summoned me to go to jury duty at a different county, but I had move, so I didn't have to go.

Now they got me again.

This was all in the span of 5 years. I thought you were suppose to get these things every once in a while!

I always present myself like I don't care or if it's IT related I always raise my hand, because lawyers don't want anyone who knows anything about a certain thing.

Then there was the time the lady told me to go to courtroom B or whatever and it was on the 2nd floor and I knew damn well it wasn't the right place. So I waited 15-20 minutes and came back down and she's like "ohhh you were supposed to be down here in this room i'm sorry, but they already started so you're excused" "ahh darn. SEE YA!"

hey i got one like a week and a half ago. just got excused since my vision is shit and the only time i've gone to a jury summons i couldn't even see the witness stand from the jury box.

if you actually serve on a jury you don't have to again for like 3-5 years. if you get a summons and don't have to serve they can bring you back whenever

the first time I ever got a state jury summons I had to do 5 days. When I got home after the 5th day I had a federal jury duty summons in the mail but I didn't have to do that since I just did the other one.

I heard if you constantly ignore them nothing will happen to you. They usually get enough people so they wont prosecute no showsnn

When I went there for my first summons, I was talking to a 50 something years old woman who was also summoned and she told me it was her first time receiving one.

I always throw out my summons. They aren't certified mail so there is no proof I got it.

This is my second time. I got my first one when I was 19. I'm 31 now.

Mine just had a phone number on the summons.

Called it and it said I was excused.

I likely won't be selected for a jury in the county I'm living in ever again.

Two times ago when they called me for jury duty, they had a choice of four towns to send me to for my selection process, the closest being about 4 miles from my house, the farthest being about 45 miles from my house. Guess which one they sent me to?

So when they asked me, I told them I was pissed they had sent me so far away, and they excused me.

Then the next time I was called the judge literally remembered me and excused me again.

I never actually got on the jury, but I did have to do the process where they pick you out. And maybe it was just my experience, but that whole thing was just a giant waste of time where they had us sitting in a room for 2+ hours, go on recess, come back and repeat for the rest of the day. Go home, come back tomorrow at, like, 8 and do it again.

I got my doctor to give me an exemption after my gall bladder surgery, citing IBS. Haven't had one since.

Jury duty doesn't fairly compensate nor account for circumstance. Pretty sure my state pays well under minimum wage for jury duty.

When our system stops over-criminalizing and does more to fairly compensate and accommodate that would be true.

I'll credit being born on leap day and assume that Cook County doesn't have Feb 29th saved in their system.

Nothing bad will usually happen but if the courts are slow they will just put out a warrant and you won't be able to renew your driver's license until you pay an obnoxious court fee.

It's better to just go honestly.

it really depends on the area. there's a judge in my city who will periodically write warrants for a court appearance for missed jury duty just to read a bunch of people the riot act over their responsibilities as US citizens.

I just got my fifth summons in August, but I checked every evening and didn't get called in. That was my first summon in 5 years because the last time, I got selected for a trial (it lasted 2 weeks!).

I just take my jury check to my labor relations office and get my days normal wage.
