This logic is so regressive and so unhelpful to the wider conversation it gives me diarrhea.

"You're either with us or with them" is a smoothbrain take that alienates potential allies by stripping any nuance from the argument and replaces it with extremist black and white viewpoints.

That being said, being pragmatic and voting for someone you may not support to keep someone worse out of office should be encouraged, but to shut down conversation with the "You're either with us or with them" bullshit is just lazy.

Voting for Donald J. Trump at any point disqualfies you from being considered a rational person. They could have not voted, they could have voted third party, they could have written in Ronald Reagan.

Trying to find at least a modicum of common ground and move forward together is not only the most reasonable thing to do, it's the only realistic thing to do. Trying to perpetuate the "you're either with us or against us" fallacy is actively harmful to our current situation.

Unless you're advocating going door to door and executing every trump voter, i'm not sure what your endgame is other than "I just wanna be mad on the internet and show how anti the other side I am.

It's not a fallacy. If you vote for a person you know will gut every agency that protects people, appoint judges that will strip rights from people, kill more civilians abroad, make decisions that will bring us closer to climate catastrophe, and stoke the fires of every type of bigotry and conspiratorial thinking....you are in fact against me.

Their beliefs and actions are what is harmful. I'm not advocating violence against them, I'm simply saying that they should not ever get their way when it affects other people because the things they choose to do are bad. I want them defeated electorally, and in the culture war and for none of the things they want to ever happen.

I'd like to bring them along peacefully, but many are beyond reach. They can't be reasoned with but they also can't be allowed to do harm, and so they have to be forced to act like human beings. I support that. I want them to live good lives, along with everyone else, but the actions they take prevent that and they must be forced to take different actions when it's literally life and death for innocent bystanders on the line.
