Its just not consistently engaging. I made it 1/3rd through the first time, and 1/2-way through the second, but it loses its grip too often to hold me til the end.

Just finished it and, wow. Weird concept. I can wholeheartedly say I did not see that coming. It wasnt all that scary though, tbh. The biggest scare I had was right after I got to the end of the credits, and the light I had on next to me switched off. Something must have triggered the smart outlet because when I turned it back on, it immediately turned itself back off again. I had to turn it back on like three or four times before it stayed on. Very creepy.

Im glad I watched the rest of that.

*spoilers*

Holy shit that was funny as fuck. I liked the 1st Conjuring but not really anything else from Wan. This just put him and his co. back on my radar. Film was like a 7/10 overall but holy fuck me lmao they really, really made me laugh with that 3rd act. Glad they didnt chicken out, instead just fucking going for it.

Because I enjoy literally every other aspect of a horror movie. Horror movies arent defined by their jump scares, and if they are then theyre a shit horror movie. Most people would actually agree that a horror movie with too much jump scares is cheap and shitty, even if most people can tolerate the jump scares while I cant.

Horror movies can have so much more that make them worth watching. The atmosphere, visual effects (especially the older movies with practical effects), characters, stories etc. Ive seen some incredible horror movies with little to no jump scares that I genuinely loved.

I will say that there was one jump scare that legitimately made me jolt with adrenaline, but only because it was out of nowhere in what had been an otherwise not-scary part.

Was the one that made you jolt with adrenaline either a body with a bloodied face falling down from the ceiling or was it a screaming woman appearing on the other side of a washer screen window?
