I tried this (not intentionally, under crappy circumstances) and was basically accosted for attempting to swindle the system. It was some BS.
I want to hear more about this lol

I had the full dosage of Pfizer, so if I had a full two doses of Moderna that would still not be ideal? I feel like one would just kinda override/boost the other.

Why are you even trying to get another vaccine shot?

I know at least where I live there is database that tracks if people have received their shot or not, and if you have already been vaccinated they won't let you get it again.

That just seems like overkill, lol. 1 Moderna would work as a booster dose, no reason to get two.

Since they are both based on the alpha varient, it would make no difference. Wait untill there's a delta shot to get another.

Well alright. Gather round, children.

So my girlfriend's father is a paramedic and back in February of this year, they were rolling out the vaccines for those that were eligible. Evidently at the end of each shift, sometimes there would be a dose or two left over and they would either give them to a close family member or toss them away.

Well he had a Moderna dose left over to take home. Since my girlfriend and her mother were nervous at the time, I gladly took it. He wrote out the details on a vaccine card and that was that. He actually felt like it would have put me in line to get my second one (his honest mistake).

He was wrong. I basically had to wait until my Phase came. So I did...a month and a half later. I finally signed up for it, but it didn't occur to me that it was Pfizer. So I looked it up and the CDC's stance regarding cross-dosing at the time was it should be okay after 30 days. I was also outside of the Moderna window of 42 days.

So...I rolled with it. It was hard enough getting it scheduled as is. I thought "I'll have both. Some sort of extra immunity. And I can tell my antivax friends and family that neither impacted me. I also told her dad about it and he said to make sure I mention I already had the Moderna.

Fast forward to the vaccination date, I sit down to register and I bring it up to the person signing me in. The worker next to him starts freaking out and goes "you're not supposed to do that!!" She like repeated it over and over. I put up my hands like "woah" and calmly explained what happened. The guy checking me in says he needs to get his manager. So he leaves and comes back with this guy who has a smirk on his face. He rushes up to me (I'm still sitting down) and goes "what are you doing, guy? Come on, we aren't doing second shots today. Let's go." I then explain myself to him and he goes "okay, hold on." He leaves and comes back with the three other guys and while coming towards me, is laughing and says "I gotta hear this!" Like dude was being a dick.

At this point, I'm irritated. Now I'm not one to escalate a confrontation like this, but I stood up out of my chair and kind of puffed my chest out a little to show this guy who keeps acting like I'm some jackass that I'm twice his size and he needs a reminder. I didn't get loud or aggressive, I simply stood up...

...and again, calmly explained my situation to these four dudes. I explained I want no trouble whatsoever and am a victim of shitty circumstances and figured the CDC guidelines meant I could restart and get the two Pfizer shots. Finally, a guy goes "alright fellas, I got it from here."

As it turns out, he was the head doctor and the other guys were contractors making sure everything was running smoothly. He apologized for the douchebag and said that it's all new to everyone and he was just trying to do his job.

I didn't get the Pfizer shot. He apologized and said I could try coming back a week later, but he couldn't guarantee it would be Moderna. He also said he was glad I mentioned having the first shot because he wouldn't have wanted a negative reaction.

I thanked him for his time and we went our separate ways.

I finally got the second shot via CVS over two months later. I'm only in the state system as a single dose so I have to bring my card to the state department. Even when I called them the other day to ask about that, they acted like I was being so sketchy.
It sounded like they were making that whole thing more difficult than it needed to be. I too did mine through CVS and that was a smooth process from beginning to end.
