...that you're completely and utterly uninterested in the conversation? And they just won't stop talking? But they've been rambling for like 5 minutes and have gone off on so many tangents full of so many unnecessary details that you can't even remember what the initial topic was? And the only things you've added to the conversation have been the occasional disinterested "hmm" and "uh huh." But you like the person, so you aren't going to be a dick and just tell them to shut up.

My mom is like this. Good god, it's almost painful to talk to her. She's a teacher, and the conversation we just had started with talking about her new students' test scores. Fair enough, I have opinions on the current state of education in this country and I can relate to her frustrations. She somehow finished with a solid 5 minutes of literal turn-by-turn directions of where a school bus had to detour due to roadwork during a field trip they went on 2 weeks ago. I do not know how the conversation got there. Like seriously, all the information I needed was "there was roadwork, so the bus had to take a convoluted detour and the field trip became a fiasco." I do not need to know that they made a right turn on this street when they wanted to go left, so that meant they had to go up 3 blocks in the wrong direction to find a connection to some other street that could get them to another street and then circle back around.......JUST STOP ALREADY. IT DOESN'T MATTER. I'm sorry your day sucked, and I can empathize with that, but please for the love of god stop torturing me with inane details.

But she's my mom and I love her. So I let her vent. But all I really want to say is just "please shut the fuck up, I have no idea what you're on about and it is physically impossible for me to care less."

Anybody else have friends/family like this?

Thankfully, with text you can skip ahead. Or leave without upsetting the speaker.

In all seriousness, I have a coworker at work like this >_> He'll just go on and on about whatever and eventually I'll just stand there and nod until there's a break in the conversation so I can leave.

The worst part is whenever he talks about video games and I have to keep my mouth shut cause I'm closeted weeb trash :x

2 people at work. I just started though, and it's a small group (9 people in total) one of them I humor because it isnt so bad, and I know a lot about what he babbles about so I can at least keep some focus. The other one though.. I just straight up ignore and pretend he isnt talking, or wait till he says something stupid and correct him so he feels the need to walk away.

No one likes the second guy though.
