Depends on how much you have to begin with. If you are broke, are in debt, or have very little saved, then absolutely.

If you are living incredibly comfortably, than its much less likely to change your life.

For me it would more give a sense of stability, but not enough to be life-changing, at least not at this point in my life.

Absolutely.

You can use it for investing, retirement, paying off debt and bills, education, rent/mortgage and so much more.

This. It wouldn't be for me, now.

It would have been for me at 16.

It would be for most.

For some, it's literally 2 years of rent money. If I told the average renter that their rent was covered for 2 years, I'd call that pretty life changing.

Personally, it would knock about 15 months off my mortgage. So even for someone who lives somewhat comfortably, it would still make a mark.

It wouldn't be life changing for me but it would still be extremely helpful.

30k is about how much I could save in a year and a half assuming I didn't blow money on bullshit or emergencies, so I'd put half of that towards a down payment on the car I'm trying to get next year, $5k in savings, and invest the remaining$10k

So I'm at the point where I want to have a house and I can definitely afford the monthly payments involved, but the downpayment is where I'm stuck. Still continuing to save and get closer so I can make a reasonable downpayment of 20% on a nice place.

So it's "life-changing" in the event that I'd be living in a house rather than an apartment, but not much else aside from that.

Yes, for someone in the middle class. Housing is one of our biggest barriers and 30k would certanly help me afford a decent house and climbing the economic ladder.

This.

If I could immediately have a downpayment for a house vs renting?

Thats an economic jumpstart that will be life changing.

I have about $23k in debt between credit cards, medical bills, and an auto loan.

Paying it all off would give me an extra $500 a month so yeah $30k would be fucking great.

I mean it obviously depends on who you're asking. Jeff Bezos makes that in a few seconds, probably.

But anybody on this board acting like they couldn't do something awesome with 30 grand probably has a gross overestimation of what they're worth. That's a lot of money for any normal person.

Yes, actually. With 30,000 dollars and the right mindset you can use that money to invest in your future. If your a gardener for example, it might let you invest in a new greenhouse which helps you grow more flowers/vegetables to sell. It's a starter investment. Someone just starting out in their field of choice might need tools to help their business grow and 30,000 dollars can help buy better equipment that you might not have had until 3 years of working.
