An owl that doesn't like the sunrise, because that means it's bed time, builds a device that blocks out the sun and struggles with some unintended consequences it brings about.

Then the plants and trees die and it loses its home. The other animals stay asleep and eventually die out because of the food shortage and it loses its friends. Then it breaks the device... curses it... and then in its depression it flies into the sun. The suns light gets brighter and brighter. And then a close up of its eyes and the brightness.
