I think more democrats are turning against him as time goes on and policies done during his administration make things worse but don't forget dude only lost a single state in 1984.

Pretty simple. When compared to LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, H.W. Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama and Trump he is by far the best. He easily won 49 of 50 states, and almost took Minnesota too, despite Walter Mandel being from MN. Regardless of what happened overseas, for the most part America made a come back from the 70s and the Vietnam mess. He converted tons of Democrats to Regan-democrats and his Vice president earned a term. Its not many times one party gets 3 in a row.

we are still trying to fix a lot of the bullshit that Reagan did, more than any other president he was transparently just a puppet for the wealthiest Americans and it is because of his legislation that we are the worlds wealthiest nation but we cant afford proper schools or infrastructure and way too many Americans live in poverty

I'm not sure what you mean by best? The effects of his policies are still getting worse every year even 30 years later.

He's ranked high in "scholarly" presidential rankings all the time. Those things do tend to be overly both-sides'd to a fault, but still. I think Dems at this point mostly hate him, and Republicans mostly forget about him because Trump is the new god, but I definitely remember when he was widely seen as one of the model presidents.

I looked at some recent president rankings and he was doing much better about 10 years ago, I feel his stock has fallen a lot since then.

I also think he really did a lot for the rich, and that was where his major fanbase was coming from. He almost invented the term trickle down economics, he also was great at acting like a fun old grandpa which endeared him to people. His "Oh shucks, America!" thing played very well with people back in the 80's.

He also was given almost full credit for bringing down the Berlin Wall they played that clip "Mr. Gorbechev tear down this wall!" thing a bunch.

I was very young at the time, but he seemed to be a textbook politician with a subdued sense of humour and I think people found it relaxing.
