Montana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Wisconsin each have a Democratic and a Republican senator. Maine has a GOP and an independent. Vermont has a Dem. and an independent. Is this surprising?

It makes perfect sense given the climate. It used to be a lot more would have two senators. With the rise of fox news the voting became more and more partisan in an effort to win elections; there are very few people walking a middle ground anymore who have a future in politics it seems.

All states need to have one democrat or one republican otherwise how can we have a fair democracy?

Maine and Vermont are kinda weird
Maine has an independent senator, a GOP senator and a Democratic governor, while Vermont has an independent senator, a Democratic senator and a GOP governor. I wonder if this variety makes those states more politically balanced than others.... ... Copied to Clipboard!

Sounds about right because both senators get elected by the same voting population just on different years. Now if each senator represented half of the state for example then I would be more surprised.
