I would assume that either the hangar was evacuated in a big hurry, or it was something left for the Afghan military, before we realized they would just immediately roll over and give up.

Yes, they can.
We left Blackhawks there because "they can't fly them anyway" and now they're flying around hanging people from the landing gear.

That or as usual transporting them would have been to expansive so they were left behind along eith most of our other toys. Regardless even if they could utilize them they likely lack the mechanical knowledge and resources to run them for long.

Bro, our equipment is old. Aircraft typically come back with at least one break after every flight. Even if they can fix it, good luck getting the parts. Our own system takes so long, that we usually cannibalize parts from other broke birds to get the least broken aircraft flying again as quick as possible.

People really overestimate American equipmment. They might get 10 hours of flight time out of it, if that. They don't have the knowledge to work on them, that's either done by Americans or companies that contract with the military, who know that if they get caught working with the Taliban they'll never get another sweet Government contract ever again.

Even then, if they could somehow give them the proper maintenance, they don't have the replacement parts.

I'm not saying it's not bad, it's just not this huge ordeal people make it out to be. Besides, Americans leaving equipment behind when we bail on a military occupation is a time honored tradition.

I didn't think it was that frequent. I thought they were more robust than that. What happened to military grade? A single LED costing $500?

Yeah people seem to forget that all military equipment is made by some defense contractor whose goal is to generate revenue for shareholders, not provide a good product.

Also, military grade isnt a term the military uses. They use Mil-Spec, military grade is a meaningless term with no standard.

Also, Mil-Spec doesnt mean its high quality just that it fits the specifications for that particular part.

I'm at work right now and I can walk out my office door 10 feet away and see a bunch of Blackhawks being built.

As someone said before, maybe they can fly some for a bit, but in a week it will be unusable because they all have special parts and there's part shortages everywhere. On a different aircraft we're going to be waiting until next year for a pilots seat. Those parts are hard to get.

Most of that stuff has self-destruct components that melt and such. Hence the drones and all that stuff are 100% useless to them. Theres also no way to fly that helicopter without a loooooy of training; more likely they try and sell it

people have been saying this for years. And then everyone forgot about the military in Afghanistan and Iraq so talking about such things became kind of pointless anyway.
