Guess it's not set in stone yet, but seems to be the case. I'm pretty excited, tbh. I don't care too much about getting paid more, but I'm happy that I'll be a boss. I don't like bossing people around, and I'm not going to, but I don't like having to bite my tongue when I know how to do something better than the person that's above me because they're the one that's making the choices, so I just do what they tell me to do, even if it's slower/incorrect/worse

I think it's just because the job is something in my life that trumps pretty much everything else. I don't have kids, I don't get sick, I don't take days off, 'just 'cause', and I'm never late. The other people have already started to put in leave requests, they can't show up on time, and some of them are complaining about the whole mask thing.

I even tried to pass on it because I know that there are people working that could use the extra money. People with kids, you know? But they are all unreliable because they take days off, can't show up on time, ect.

If you work retail then that mind set makes you better than like 99% of your coworkers.

I don't spend the money I have now. I'm nowhere close to being apart of this Capitalistic Country. Bills, food, and a little entertainment. I'm not going to turn down more money, but that's not the reason why I'm happy for the promotion. I don't really care how much I get paid so long as I can take care of myself

For sure. I'm a bit nervous, and I hope I can do it. If not, it's okay. I'm just going to have a bit of a trial run, I think

For sure. Like, we have 10 days a year we can just take off. These days don't roll over, so people make sure to use up all 10 of them, and of course they have to use up all their sick time every year as well. I don't do this. If I need a day off, I'll take it, but I don't plan my entire year around which days I can take off. I work at a school, we already get a ton of paid days off

But even when I was just pumping gas, which I did for about 5 years, I only missed 1 day

No, I won't regret it. I have never felt the need to have a bunch of money. It's not like I'm broke, all I do is collect my checks, pay the few bills I have, buy food, and save pretty much all the rest. No car, so that's a lot of money saved. I don't feel the need to buy useless shit just to look at. Nobody to go out with. I don't go to sport events or anything like that. You could give me a $10K right now and I would just put it in my savings and forget about it

Hoping it works out for you but Ive learned myself from being burned more than once, never count on promises in the workplace until you have it in writing.

Thanks!

What I mean is that both bosses want to give me the job. The issue comes from people who are at the same level as me, maybe a little higher, and have been their longer. So far none of them has shown interest in the job, I'm the only one that's put in for it.

But these people have kids, and need the money more than I do. So if one of them wants the job, I'll let them have it. But they're not reliable, so I'm sure if one does put in for it, they're not going to get it, and then they're going to be upset with me for getting the promotion so quickly compared to them.

I'm the lead now, so I'm the boss at my school's kitchen. I don't want to be a boss, I'm not going to boss anyone around. I like working. But now I have to order everything, I have to go to lead meetings, I'm the one that does all the computer inventory stuff, ect. Before I was just making food, cleaning, and then put the kids into the computer.

Do you have any experience with this? Did the person before you? What do they use for their books?

50% odds you're going to be taking over a spreadsheet that's completely fubar lol.

I already know how to do most of it. Now I'm the one with the name on the account and I'm the one that goes in and fills everything out. That's all I need to learn now, just how to order the stuff, which should be easy.

I'm more nervous about the math of it. If one of the corn cans feeds 30 people, and I have 300 kids, I need 10 cans of corn. That's simple. It's when it comes down to figuring out how many ounces are in a serving. It will be fine, though.

As the the paper from the last person, yeah, I don't know. It wasn't there, lol. The order sheet is BS, imo, but that's fine. The issue is that it has like 300 items on it, and we only have like 20 of them we need to always check. However, the list isn't in a good order. Like sometimes a cereal will all be in one location, but then one or two of them are somewhere else for some reason. It's not Alphabetical order, and it's not grouped by category. It's just a hot mess. But it will be fine. Once I'm doing it all the time it will be easy. When I've done it before it was once here and there when someone couldn't get to it. Inventory, not ordering
