I saw the original Shaft years ago, it was okay. This is a pretty solid early 2000's action movie.

Yeah, I meant in the movie. He's older now.

I think Captain Marvel was his most active Marvel movie, where they aged him back to around the Die Hard 3 era. Dude must have been like 70 when they filmed that.

I really liked this movie, would watch it all the time when it was on TV. Hell, I still like it a lot. Always wondered why it never got a sequel, then almost 20 years later it finally got a sequel... but I was disappointed to find out that 2019's Shaft was hated by all, critics and audience alike. Was really looking forward to it too.

He does a ton of movies and kinda mails it in most of the time. But, his mailing it in is so good it doesnt ruin the movie.

Apparently this movie was pretty roundly disliked at the time as well. Like it did okay at the time, but the IMDB score for this movie is worse than the 2019 Shaft.

Kinda wanna see 2019 Shaft after this. Like I don't think it'll be as good, but I don't think it'll be that bad either.

I will say, the movie's slated to end in 30 minutes and barely anything has happened. I've really enjoyed the drug dealer guy, he's really charismatic, and it's really funny seeing Christian Bale get knocked around like a chump.

Feels good man, sitting at home watching movies on TV while I drink sour beers.

He's at that age where I think we should be cherishing him as much as possible. He's aged incredibly well, but he won't be around forever and he won't be as prolific the older he gets.

Off-topic, but since Shaft ended I've been watching RAGE on ABC. You know how early music videos on YouTube had that RAGE logo in the bottom left? That's from an Australian music video show that's been running for decades.

It has guest programmers, and this week it's CHVRCHES. Basically, they pop up every 5 or 6 music videos and say something about their process or about the next music video and why they chose it. They just explained the process behind why they wanted to air Maps by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Holy crap it is. That is just shocking. Not only did I think it was a really good movie, but the plot is literally eerily replicated in real life with the trevyor martin case.

I'm surprised at how young Christian Bale was in the 2000 movie. He was 26, but he looked at least in his 30s.
