How do you even fail algebra? You don't need to know anything about it to solve real-world problems.

The concept of using equations to solve problems in real-life situations is outdated. It's time to give math credit where credit is due and give it to the world.

A simple way to show how math is being forgotten is to look at all the popular books being published. They're all filled with more math than can possibly be of practical use. For example, here's a book on quantum physics. It has a huge section on math. Here's a book on chemistry: it's math all the way. Here's a book on genetics: oh yeah, don't forget about those pesky numbers. Here's a book on economics: yeah, we're not quite sure what you mean, but trust us, the mathematics behind it is all real. Here's a book on biology: sure, that's probably some of the most interesting stuff, but this is an elementary science book and we can agree on that.

i failed a history class because my teacher literally hated me and made a habit of "losing" my homework and projects. got it overturned and the woman fired when i complained, apparently she'd made a habit of singling out a few students in each of her classes just to fuck over.

This only ever one c and it was usually in math. Few times I pulled math to a b my English dropped to a c. Only ever got honor roll twice.

I did fail Spanish but switched to French and got a b. Was failing a English class but someone in admin pointed out to my mother 45% of the class was failing. So I kinda dont count that as that's clearly a bad teacher situation

A few

A semester of Algebra I (Freshman Year)
A Semester of Science 9 (Freshman Year)
A mini-six week long course called Wellness (Sophomore Year)

In middle school, I failed Home Economics

The hilarious thing is is I have a post graduate degree now.

I failed all of these noted courses as a result of protests. Algebra I and Science 9 had too much homework. Wellness was a scam course because the only graded assignments were you daily food dairy and everybody just lied on them -- you learned nothing by doing them anyway. I refused to participate in that. It was a waste of my time. I failed home economics because like half the grade came from a group project. My partner left the class for yearbook like halfway through the project leaving me behind to do it all. I was like NOPE.

***

As an aside, I learned this fantastic trick in school. My school graded on 6 six week terms, Three terms per semester. They averaged the three terms per semester to produce a semester grade. You had to pass your semester grade to get half a credit. I learned to take six weeks off. So I would get like a 90-50-80 or something end end up with a C or a B for the semester grade. Even though I took a term off and got a 50.

It made my teachers mad. Reminds me of the time I was captain of the school's quiz bowl team but was academically blocked from going to meets due to a low grade in math LOL.

My attitude nearly got me shipped to boarding school.

I didn't get in much disciplinary trouble. Occasionally rides in detention for general hijinx like talking back or something. I didn't get in any disciplinary trouble Junior or Senior year. I just didn't like doing homework much or busy work in general. My parents more less agreed too. We worked out a deal where I kept my grades minimally acceptable, like 2.8 to 3.0, and they didn't hassle me.

But my freshmen year was a near debacle. First semester at least. Like borderline failing half a grade. That is when the boarding school talked fired up hard.

Advanced Algebra in 11th grade for two reasons: my school didn't have D's so anything below 70% was a fail, and the class/teacher I took this for was way overcrowded with no discipline. I remember realizing there was no hope when there were a couple weeks left so I and a couple other failures started playing Mario Party DS local multiplayer under the table.

I actually got this wiped from my record when I got a high enough SAT score for that level of math.

My school had Ds and anything below a 70% was still a failing grade. 70% was the lowest D-. By todays standards, I probably would have made a C or D because I had like a 67% or something.

Oddly Chemistry, and this the first time someone suggest anything about an LD.
I could do the work in my head and get the correct answers. However if I had to show my work, it would be full of a mistakes. People did not connect this issues to my LD util later in college.

Math, miserably, I'm terrible at anything after long division and simple fractions/decimals. Algebra can go fuck itself. And it only seems to be getting more complicated and convoluted by the year.

P.E. because well, I'm not a sporty or athletic person, I can walk a few miles, but I detested being forced to play sports, run, do jumping jacks and the like. I didn't mind aerobics when it rained though.
