Playing biosochk for the first time (picked up the collection for $20 woo), and just for to the plot twist. Hot darn I thought I was in the endgame. Now I gotta kill atlas.

anyway have you played bioshock? Did you play it recently, or when it first was released? Thoughts about the game, the series, the plot twists, etc?

I played recently when it was a free PS+. I enjoyed the first game but could not get 2 and infinite to click.

Do you get anything for collecting all the tapes? Should I go back to all the areas and make sure Ive got everything before ending the game?

also Ive been saving all the little girls. I dont see an upside to killing them lmao. They give you way too many skills and plasmids for the extra ADAM to be useful, it feels like.

If you save all the girls, you get the "good ending", if you harvest any of them at all, you get the "bad ending", and if you kill them all you get the extra bad ending.

I like infinite the best too I think. I played it like 3 times back to back to back. Didn't do that with the others.

Does it have issues? Sure. But it's still good imo.

I enjoyed it. I played it in 2010 so it wasn't quite new.

My main takeaway from it was how insanely powerful melee combat was, especially endgame.

One of my favorite games ever

I played it when it first came out and it was love at first sight.

then I drifted away from video games for years, and only just came back recently. I picked up the whole HD collection and played and loved all 3.

1 is still my favorite and is basically perfect imo.

2 is really fun for different reasons. But its basically more of the same (cant complain about that)

3 is really great and probably has the best story in the series, but the game mechanics changed drastically from the first two and I didnt like that as much. Still a wonderful game though

also dont forget to check out the DLC for Bioshock Infinite (3). It was some awesome bonus chapters

Played through all 3 over the last year or two for the first time. Thought it was absolutely gorgeous and a wonderfully crafted series. Each one is its own unique thing and doesnt always need to be compared, but loved it and became a fan. The controls got to me at first, but got it dialed in before too long. Stay on the look out for #4!

Havent played it in a while but I love how op you can become.

my personal favorite approach was to max out bees and melee damage. Just fill a room with bees then run around bashing everyones skulls in as they panic

There is a trophy/achievement for collecting all the audio recordings There are two areas where you can't return , so if you missed any of the five in these areas , you can't get them until you start a new game.

Harvesting the little sisters puts you ahead of the "power curve" , which can be helpful in the beginning of the game, but loses its advantage as the game goes on.
There is another trophy for saving all the LS and exclusive tonics which more than compensate for the total difference of 280 ADAM by the game's end.

I just played these games the past year for the first time , enjoyed the first two , was bored with Infinite.

I've replayed 2 more than the 1st , the added abilities in the plasmid upgrades make it more fun.

The escort mission near the end of 1 kinda disrupts the flow of the game , but survivor mode was a nice challenge.

The only thing about Infinite I kinda liked , the two gun limit , everyone else seems to hate. I stuck with it enough to plat it , but probably won't replay it much if at all.

loved the mp in 2. all the different combos were really fun.

Just wrapped up the game. It was fun! Might play through again to get the bad ending, and collect all the tapes and film reels.

also going to look into the dlc later.

The fun thing about replays is that you can experiment with new plasmids / guns, and it feels like a completely new game.

there are so many fun ways to play. I almost always set everyone I see on fire. But I love combining it with the attack bee plasmid and the bees set on fire and they look like little fireballs flying around stinging

I think 2 probably has the best and most fluid gameplay. I don't know what they were thinking taking so much away when they (diff studio but still) made Infinite.

Thoughts about the game, the series, the plot twists, etc?

The Bioshock games are original, beautiful (aesthetically) colourful and fun with interesting and well-written stories individually. Classics for sure and a showcase in interactive art.

Technically however, the gameplay has aged. Animations are stiff like old cartoons (especially in the first two games) AI is generally poor compared to other FPS titles from that time but offer a decent challenge.
Playing with plasmid combinations and physics is really entertaining. Too bad Infinite took a step back in terms of physics manipulation but offered way better gunplay (not including powers)
The first game also suffers from well-known audio issues, at least in the PS4 remaster.
Im glad a new Bioshock is under development, this series need to continue.

yeah, it felt like they were trying to make it more of an arcade shooter and less of an exploration game

Idk, I think it has that Goldeneye/Perfect Dark/Timesplitters charm to it because they are so stiff

The twist was cool, but the whole angle was complete nonsense.

Otherwise it has an incredible setting, and the Big Daddies are neat quasi-antagonists.
