The former owner of an Upstate NY Ice Cream shop has been ordered to pay 4500 smackers after falsely calling police on BLM protests claiming they were THREATENING him!!

Daid Elmendork, oopsa a poo i mean Elmendorf will pay 9 protesters 500 smackers each for violating their civil rights on June 30, 2020 where they peacefully protested outside Bumpy's Polar Freeze in Schenetady after racist text messages he wrote circulated on social media

He was sued by Letitia James under the law dubbed "Central Park Karen" law that aims to stop false, race based police reports and he is the FIRST to be prosecuted under this law

It was enacted after the high profile case of Amy Cooper, the white woman who called police and falsely said a black birdwatcher was threatening her

His shop became the target of sustained protests after his text messages were made public and he approached a group of people peacefully o the porch of a private house near his business and spent 15 minutes spewing racist slurs including the n word and said "If you come over here i'm going to shoot you, i'll all you f***ing n-word"

He held a BATON and then said he was going to grab his rifle

He then called 5-0 and said "20 armed protesters who were threatening to shoot him" then said the protesters were savages hanging out in "section 8 housing"

Later 50 more protesters showed up at his store and then he came out with his .22 caliber air rifle pellet gun and said "I'll run you n-word over with my truck"

He was stopped by police after running away and was arrested where he was charged with 2 misdemeanors for menacing connection with the protest and plead not guilty

He also stabbed a PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR previously according to documents.

Bumpy's shut down last fall after business dwindled as well as failed to correct a health code violation to enforce covid rules

that protest had nothing to do with him and he just volunteered to be a racist psychopath. Even if rioters had taken advantage of the protests and damaged his shop he easily could have still called the police without spewing a bunch of slurs and threatening to kill people

I'm not really against the bill, this guy should face consequences for this and if this bill is the only thing doing that, then good, but it seems more like a bandaid fix and we should be pulling for laws against all forms of false 911 calls and threatening to kill people

This law is more specifically targeted at people who try to weaponize the police to potentially brutalize or even kill innocent people.
