Managed to get an additional $200 due to the delay(s) so the final price is $2,455 which is a really, really good deal for the hardware.

That a real 3080 or a mobile card that's adjusted? I mean it's awesome either way just curious.

Sort of half-way.

Normal mobile 3080s are 90-115 Watt. This is a 165 Watt card, so the performance is roughly around desktop 3070, which TBH is pretty great for a laptop.

Even if it does mean it has to be in a giant-ass 17 inch laptop T_T

All mobile RTX 30 series GPU's are actually completely different dies(the chip itself) than the corresponding named desktop graphoics card. So a XX80 is GA102 typically. the Real RTX 3080 is GA102-225, the Laptop RTX 3080 is GA104-something.

In layman's terms no it's not a real 3080. Keep in mind even if it used the same actual chip, it would not perform like a 3080 due to power restraints.

Honestly, unlike the 2000-series RTX cards (which were actually pretty power efficient), the 3000 series is grossly power-hungry. There's no way a 350W RTX 3080 could even be trimmed down to laptop power draws.

The RTX 2080 desktop card used around 200-220W. That allowed nVidia to use the exact same card even in thin laptops, with a TDP of ~100-120W. That yielded a 30% performance loss, which was acceptable. Considering it was mostly marketed as 1080p at 120+ fps and 1440p at 60+ fps.

The RTX 3080 being trimmed down that far would be too dramatic, but the 165 W card generally gets 120+ fps at 1440p and 60fps at 4K, and that's really good for a laptop.

This would be my second ever, actually.
The current laptop I'm using is one I'm giving to my nephew for college. I got it with my physician's IT bonus. Now that I've saved up, I'd rather build the one that I really want.

My previous "gaming" computer, if you can even call it that, was a Radeon 4850 back in like 2008-ish.

But I remember you having a 2000 series laptop and a 3080 PC already. You also had at least one you returned lol

The 3080 pc was the one I returned. It had a lot of issues and I simply wasn't home enough to have a desktop.
