I dont know why anyone (especially mods) bought into the idea that the word is transphobic.

Most traps dont identify as the other gender. They just like to look cute and dont care for gender norms.

The few characters that actually switched sexes through magical means also dont really identify purely as male or female.

Ya, said "trap" doesn't prove someone is a homophobe, homosexual, or transphobe.

I get why some people don't like it. But to me I never considered it derogatory or a slur. But sometimes characters are trans coded but the show treats them like a trap and thats dumb.

That said, I can see why it would be insensitive at best and transphobic at worst to have a character who's gimmick is "tricking people about their sex" because guess what excuse actual transphobes love using to justify violence against trans people?

So, yeah, I still get the problem there. The fetishizing of males in dresses is fair game though.

Maybe, but if the trap is cute/girly enough(and they usually are) then from a frictional standpoint at least most don't normally care it seems.

I'm not sure what you'd expect otherwise, given 90% of their design's direction is "draw a cute girl, say it's a guy, and call it a day".

I could understand the homophobic angle, but not the transphobic angle. Again, many of these characters actually identify as cisgender. If anything, I see more people trying to claim certain characters as trans, even if the plot blatantly contradicts them otherwise and they're simply crossdressers or genderbenders instead (see: Naoto from Persona, who apparently has her own Wiki page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naoto_Shirogane).

Those characters or liking/hating them aren't a statement on actual trans characters. A lot of them can be compelling, regardless of their sexuality.

Actually no.

Not everyone is bi. So this idea of pretending to be a specific gender, to reveal later you have the same genitalia isn't a sign you're secretly gay or bi. If you're not gay or bi, any attraction you had to this person would disappear.

Same to your argument about incest. Part of attraction also includes pretenses.
