i played dead island and had no major issues with the gameplay.

dying light is a whole different story. im constantly being swarmed by zombies. its like every zombie in the area somehow homes in on you even when you're undiscovered. trying to pick a lock that is above medium is almost impossible cos there is no end to the constant harassment from mobs. firecrackers last all of 2 seconds. trying to kill zombies takes a ton of swings from my weapon, and usually trying to "clear" an area so you have breathing room means killing a good 20-30ish zombies...

how are you supposed to play this game...

Dont use loud firecrackers >_>

itll be awhile until you can really get some decent damage dealing weapons, usually the story will set you up for that but in the beginning dont expect to be swinging at mobs

Youre mostly supposed to avoid the zombies at the start or only fight small groups. If you have to fight then try to knock then into the spikewall things that are everywhere.

Dying Light is terrible. If you try to move around at night, you will literally die in 10 seconds. Awful game

The game got a lot more fun for me once I unlocked the grappling hook.

Is it worth $30 for the enhanced edition

I personally wouldnt buy it at 30 unless its the PC edition to mod it it definitely shines at 20-22 bucks. Also its definitely a solid 7/10 from me. Just not something Id ever replay honestly >_>

Dead Island on the other hand gets a 8/10 from me despite being simpler in its approach

i only played the mall Dead Island.. or was that dead Rising? I think I may have played Island too.

Dying Light is suppose to be more of a horde type zombie right?

maybe comparable to days gone?

How the hell do you rate Dead Island above Dying Light??

Dead Island was a glitchy POS with boring combat mechanics and broken AI that made gunfights completely meaningless and unenjoyable.

The only thing worse than Dead Island was Dead Island Riptide.

Man, I dont judge a game on those things unless its like a quest I cant finish just think of them like secret cheat codes

and really its because despite the vertical aspect of Dying Light the horizontal aspect of it all just was lame.. I just want to be engaged by whatever, the easiest way to do that is to establish a setting with interesting sections.. things I havent seen in vidya (like the huts out in the water via those wooden boardwalk things >_>)

The best part of Dying Light was literally that bridge section cause it showcased literally everything about the game I wanted to know. The rest of it was just this really meh experience which is a damn shame because the night portion could get really intense.

I mean I play CRPGs and have fun with them so its not like I need super engaging gameplay, I just want a world to envelop me into its quirks

and Dead Island easily does that, the fact they have you play as different characters with different gameplay approaches actually made me want to have another go at replaying it

I guess I didn't see any real diversity between the characters. Yeah some had different abilities but for the most part 80% of the skill trees were identical, just rearranged.

idk I just didn't feel any immersion in Dead Island, only really enjoyed it because I was playing it with a friend.

Just keep doing quests, the more you level up the better skills you can get. Use firecrackers if you get stuck in a horde, avoid the main streets and try not to jump off of buildings onto other buildings you will attract virals.

Fair, just the fact they had special abilities that you could use pretty often made me feel like oh I guess this experienced can be somewhat different

I wouldnt blame anyone for thinking Dying Light is better since it completely flushes out Dead Island in some regards.. in like a good, chunky 65% kind of way

No substitute for heart though, I just enjoyed the zany-ness of going from Zombies to weird jungle fights

I didnt even think Id see a jungle section, I was just looking at the game like a bastard son that was just bouncing off the walls xD

everytime I thought the game would end it would just boot up a new section and I was like oh wow lol

Dying Light gets easier around LV12 or so, when you can start finding guns in chests and stuff. Also, I grinded out levels using one of the perks where you get an instant kill for stomping heads. Stand on a car, let zombies climb up, and headstomp 'em as they do so -- easy-peasy XP.
