The casting actually looks pretty faithful. The fact that it's going to be a reimagination set in moderny times makes it an obvious trainwreck.

This is cool, I didnt realize the OG creators (who were attached to the Netflix project but left) had inked a deal with Nickelodeon to make more shows/movies in The Last Airbender universe:

What the fuck? As I told someone all they had to do was make a M. Night version but with a more faithful casting, more humor, and better pacing. No wonder the showrunners walked out on this project. This is a recipe for disaster, which sucks for the kids who are going to be casted in this garbo.

Easier (cheaper) to set it in modern times and shoot in a Canadian city than it is to build Avatar style sets to film in.

I believe the casting calls also implied that the characters are coming to terms with awakening special powers. Which says to me that society at large isn't bending focused. Which means less costs on special effects in that regard too.

All elements are OP if used properly. Like how we actually had someone use airbending to create a vacuum around someone's head to suffocate them. Bloodbending can be done without the full moon, etc.

I've seen people say that casting calls are often intentionally wrong so they can do auditions without letting people know just what they're working on. I think that makes more sense than them randomly setting it in modern times for no reason.

Male, Asian. Lead Character is 12, male, of East Asian or South Asian heritage. Aang is a typical twelve-year-old boy. A bit goofy, a bit nerdy, restless in school, always eager to join his friends for fun and games. Hes nimble, energetic, and quick in the schoolyard. Adopted at birth, Aang has struggled with questions as to how he fits in. But his loving parents have worked hard to make him feel accepted. Aang has grown up to become generous, kind-hearted and cheerful. Aang had also been gifted with an incredible mystical power. He doesnt really understand it, but it could be the key to saving the world from a global conflict. Its a responsibility hes reluctant to accept because itll take him away from his family, friends, and everything he knows. All he wants is to just be a regular kid.

Cowboy Bebop was lightning in a bottle they will never be able to recreate. Its seen as, one of the best anime ever made and one of the reasons anime took off in the west. Right place, right time. I don't see Americans doing it right.

To be fair, Ed doesn't come in until halfway through the original show, so I'm okay with her not being in this first season of the live action. My money is on the final scene in the first season being a teaser for Ed.

As for Ein, he's in it, isn't he? I do believe so.

You're right about that. They could at least try though. But they won't. My money is on it being a general action/adventure show with no style of it's own. Just generic sci-fi action that could be mistaken for any other generic sci fi show.
