I mean think about it how awesome would it be to be able to go outside without breathing in people smoking their cigarette, to be able to go anyplace, sit anyplace, eat anyplace without breathing in people smoking.

Even with COVID around no new restrictions are added for smoking, everyone seems to ignore the health issues that smoking can cause.

I smoke on and off and I agree. Catching a whiff of someone elses brand can be off-putting.

Cigarettes where I live are actually heavily taxed now and the increased price likely has an effect on how many people are quitting.

Agreed. When I go outside, I want to get fresh air. But my wife and I live in a crowded downtown area, and there's pretty frequently smokers walking around, and there's nothing worse than getting stuck behind someone with a cigarette.

Actually there's one worse thing: when see stands underneath our fucking living room window smoking and the smoke drifts into our apartment. There's signs on the building saying "You cannot smoke within 50 feet of this residential building" but people don't follow directions cuz they're asshats.

I never said I live in a city. I live in a suburban village, but my apartment is near our village's main street, so there's a lot of foot traffic. Our main street is a small, two-lane road. But it's a popular tourist destination so lots of people come here to eat.

Secondly, cigarette smoke drifting into my apartment isn't "a whiff of smoke outside".

dude I smoke(d) and it bugged the hell out of me when people took their toddlers to the smoking area at disneyland. Like have one parent stay outside, don't subject your kid to all that BS.

We've sequestered chainsmokers as much as we can, and all we've accomplished is punishing their children.

I guess it's relative then if your town is so tiny at only 1500 people. Like I said, I live in the suburbs, where my town has an incorporated village downtown area consisting of like a one mile stretch of restaurants and apartments. That's where I happen to live. It's one lane on each side of the road, and not a city by any stretch of the imagination. But it has a lot of people and foot traffic because of said restaurants.

To me, a city is Boston, NYC, Chicago, Baltimore, etc etc etc... Not a small town of like 10,000 people. But as I said, I guess it's all relative to where you live

Regardless of anything, I still don't understand how any of that would justify people smoking next to an agreement building that has signs that say "No smoking within 50 feet of this building".

I can tell you that someone who has asthma, it can affect them when they breathe in cigarette smoke even if it is outdoor.

I know there are worse things than cigarette smoking, but that is no reason to ignores cigarette smoking. If they can't get rid of something so easy, then getting rid of worse things there is no chance.

I'm saying catching a whiff of it in passing as you walk somewhere outdoors is trivial.

This is patently false. There's times where I walk outside from my apartment building, walk through a cloud of smoke and have to use my inhaler when I get to my car because it's already triggered a reaction.

There's plenty of studies that confirm outdoor smoke is a health hazard. If outdoor airborne allergens/irritants weren't a factor, seasonal allergies wouldn't be a thing.
