Our ICU is completely full and more than half the patients there are COVID. These guys tend to stay for at least a week if not several weeks. It completely clogs up the system to the point where critically ill patients are overflowing in rooms where they are probably getting suboptimal care. And often critically ill patients are stuck in rural ERs for days at a time because all hospitals around them are full. And trust me you don't want a critically ill patient, or any patient for that matter, to sit around in an emergency room for days at a time.

No one is really talking about this point but I am most definitely seeing this right now. And yes I have seen patients die because of this.

Serious question: at what point do we start pushing unvaccinated (by choice) covid patients out to the suboptimal care spaces and treat the non covid cases?

This is one of the major points that the "personal choice" people tend to really miss out on. Following or not following covid precautions effects way more than just yourself and the people immediately around you.

The consequences of the central goal of conservatism and the corresponding actor state morality are the simple political goals to do nothing when problems arise and to dismantle labor & consumer protections. The non-aristocratic are immoral, inherently deserve punishment, and certainly dont deserve help. They want the working class to get fucked by global warming. They want people to die from COVID19. Why do the conservative voters seem to vote against their own interest? Why does /selfawarewolves and /leopardsatemyface happen? They simply think they are higher on the social ladder than they really are and want to punish those below them for the immorality.

Absolutely everything Conservatives say and do makes sense when applying the above. This is powerful because you can now predict with good specificity what a conservative political actor will do.

Yeah and the only way you could possibly change their minds is if them or a family member gets very sick from covid and/or dies from it and even then some of them still won't realize how dumb they were being.

Dude, you're speaking truth. I'm only a janitor, but I've seen some really heartbreaking shit during this pandemic when people are denyed beds/space because a covid patient is taking up said resources.

Granted, some of those patients deserve the best care they can get because they followed the rules and got screwed through no volition of their own, but I can't help but wonder how many humans clogging up the emerg/ICU wards are there because they didn't listen, or just didn't give a fuck.

A while back before the vaccine my friend's grandfather could only get medical care because his son was a doctor. That was when ICUs were full Oklahoma.

I hope I don't have medical emergencies in the near future.

It always has. That was the issue in Italy in 2020. Doctors actually had to pick and choose who got services and in the process, chose potentially who lived or died.

Heart attacks, seizures, other accidents and pregnancies still happen and COVID burdens the system even more.

And with a vaccine available, it's not necessary.

I remember at the peak last year people couldnt even get cancer treatments or organ transplants. Media never followed up on those people. So dont know what happened to them.

We really need to put our foot down and just prioritize the vaxxed (and unvaxxable like young kids) over the unvaxxed. Just give the motherfuckers the boot if there's not enough space or care for new patients.
