Unfortunately yes, lots of people who've only taken things half-seriously from the start genuinely thought Covid was almost over a few months ago.

It did feel like that. In the middle of June I looked at my state's prediction on case counts and it showed that we were on track to have zero new cases by like the third week of July.

Honestly, it did feel that way. And then vaccination rates fell off a cliff.

How long did it take polio to go away after the vaccine? I don't think it was considered extinct in America until the 1980s.

Blind vaccinated people now don't wanna take any responsibility. People treat the vaccine like a "my job in this is over forever now" thing. It's becoming obviously people only vaccinated themselves for themselves. But they'll be quick to use it in convos that make it seem like they did it for everyone's benefit. If you're not doing extra precautions, ya only did it with one person in mind.

You are neither at any significant risk yourself or to others. You masking up or social distancing does little to help anymore. Unvaccinated people are still suffering, yes. In places where they can't get them, that sucks and we should do everything we can to fix that. For people who have had every opportunity and chosen not to, that's their choice. You can't make other people make healthy choices, you can only give them the chance.

Hasn't this not been the case since the beginning. I don't remember any place ssying vaccinated people 100% can't spread it. It's usually "We're not sure how much they spread it yet"

That's how it usually works with any other disease. If you're vaccinated, the disease won't survive in you and so there's not much opportunity for you to be a vector. Someone will point out edge cases showing that transmission through a vaccinated person can sometimes possibly rarely happen. That doesn't matter. That's just the risk we have to live with. There is not going to be any total elimination of risk. It's impossible to be 100% safe. Like I said, there is no future milestone beyond vaccination to hold out for. So unless you think it's acceptable to mask up, distance, lock down, and shut down forever, then the time to say it's over is when everyone has had the opportunity to be vaccinated. In the US, that time has passed (except for children who they should hurry up and approve the vaccine for).

There's no talking to you. That became 100% clear when you dramatized the alternative. You say lockdown "forever" as the alternative argument, cause you know saying a realistic timeframe would actually sound logical lol. And it would make you look entitled for not being ok with sacrificing to help the world get pass this quicker.

Gotta dramatize the argument to have one. That's always a sign your argument is good./s

Depending on where you live it certainly is. Haven't worn a mask in months throughout my state, everything's open and it's been businses as usual.
