Maybe a makeup thing? You associate an attractive woman with airbrushed and heavily made up pictures/videos, whereas your standards for men are a bit lower? Not like most of the women you meet in day-to-day life are going to look like they're ready for a professional photo shoot.

It's offset expectations. We're so accustomed to men without makeup as our baseline, and women with.

And so obviously you have to have a real world expectation of female aesthetic. But what spoils it is when there is someone you meet who looks amazing (relatively) without makeup.

Add that women are also slammed with expectations to manage their facial and pubic hair, it's just a shame what society has crafted. Like I'm not gonna lie, I can't get used to a lady with a mustache.

I sort of get what TC is talking about, for me I think it is that I categorize men and women differently.

Men i categorize like
head: attractive, normal, something weird or maybe bad hair style, busted
body: good shape, thin, dad bod, fat, slob
Most busted faces can be made normal with a beard.

Women i categorize like
face: super hot, hot, attractive, pretty, cute, average, below average, weird, busted, unfortunate
hair: looks amazing, it works, neutral, bad haircut
body: sub-categories- breasts, ass, waist, legs, each with multiple ratings

So for a women to be super hot face with amazing hair and high points on breast, ass, waist, legs, that never happens in the real world. But for men with an attractive face that are in shape, there's lots of them I see around.

No, you said you think men are generally more attractive than women. So your example of a girl telling one of their friends they look cute or you being able to acknowledge that an individual man is attractive without being sexually attracted to him are pretty disingenuous comparative examples for that statement.

I don't know about men looking better on average, I'd disagree pretty heavily but I don't think that opinion inherently says anything about your sexuality.

Here's some cliche but true shit: men don't have to try as hard. Women are expected to wear makeup, have their hair and nails done, etc. So when men put effort into their appearance by taking of themselves it makes them stand out in a good way. And I do think the average man takes better care of his physical appearance today than even 10 years ago.

There's nothing wrong with casually pointing out that a really great looking dude is, in fact, a really great looking dude. But if you in general are more interested in guys, yeah, that's just what you're into. I'd easily say on average attractive women just stand out more in everyday life.
