If you're an antivaxxer I automatically think less of you as a person.

holy fuck how are people still not getting this

letting it spread around a 50% unvaccinated population is how you get variants

variants is how you get vaccine resistance in the virus

holy fuck, get it through your fucking heads
I get that EVERYONE who can needs a vaccination. But let's be real. There are billions of unvaccinated in the world and not enough vaccines.

Doomsdayers advocating for lockdowns again are idiots with remotely zero understanding of economics and they are convinced even trying to comprehend how markets and trade work or how wealth is created are a conspiracy in a manner not all that dissimilar to anti-vaxxers that are convinced COVID-19 is a liberal conspiracy. Was killing countless jobs, billions of declines in mental health, and financial uncertainty if one is going to be able to feed their kids, pay their bills, pay for their family pets operation not enough the first damn go around? Anti-vaxxers are idiots and should be mocked accordingly. Doomsdayers should also be ridiculed, for different reasons. Two things can be true at once lol.

Are you saying the first lockdowns were not necessary? That we should just have let the death toll go even higher?

youre in a topic about reinstating mask wearing to take a step to help prevent more lockdowns since idiots are not getting the vaccine at a high enough rate to develop herd immunity. I dont understand who or what youre mad at

Everything about how you should combat Covid has been obvious from the very beginning. It's always been a war against entitlement. Guidelines don't really do anything. You either use your common sense or you override it with your entitlement. And neither of those are overruled by guidelines. People who feel the world is made specifically for them will continue to screw everyone else over and prolong this pandemic.

Yes, they were unnecessary. Dumbasses convinced COVID-19 was a liberal hoax were going to always ignore it, people that were going to self-quarantine and mask up were going to do that by their own choice. Recommended guidelines were fine, there was no need to tank the economy in the process by doing boneheaded shit like limiting small restaurants and their customer capacity with mandates while allowing Wal-Mart and other franchises to have the ability to have flocks of customers crowded like sardines.

A) Walmart and other chains still had reduced capacity that was enforced- we had lots of news stories about it, not sure where you're getting your information from
B) People masked and quarantined under orders as well as themselves- again there were TONS of stories about enforcement.
C) More broadly speaking do you have some evidence that these measures weren't followed by "deniers"? I don't mean a person you know, but a study that found non compliance despite legal requirements. We see these *are* effective with seat belt and texting while driving laws.
D) Lastly, while the mental health/financial costs were definitely not good, how many lives would you say they were worth? If another 500k people died but we kept going "business as usual" would you be okay with that?

You put it better than I could ever hope to, well done.

I swear, there could be an extinction-level meteor on a collision course with the planet and people's behavior wouldn't change. 'I'm not some coward who's gonna let the meteor determine how I live my life!' 'To hell with helping build a bunker, I'm not missing my cousin's wedding rehearsal!' 'Thousands of smaller fragments still heading towards Earth? Who cares? We blew it up! It's like some of you don't even want the meteor to go away!'

Really what it needs to come down to, but too bad half our fucking country is part of the problem so it wouldn't get enforced.
