I don't, actually. I can understand watching an LP for the sake of seeing how they're getting through a game that the viewer finds difficult, kinda like reading a walkthrough. Actually watching whole streams of that for fun seems kind of strange to me.

As for unboxing videos, that's just silly, pathetic and a waste of everyone's time, just like reaction videos.

This - or also, if they're playing a game (/ levelpack / mod / whatever) that you made, as the LP essentially becomes a very detailed form of giving feedback, that also captures their reactions at the time instead of relying on how they recall them later.

i watched a ted talk once that points out that they have a format that is very much wait a minute *bam* reward so it could be a little skinner box action going on there.

i think it could start innocently enough -- someone just wants an idea of what's inside one of these random box things so they watch one. maybe they want to see what else could be in one.

Yeah, watching people stream video games is something I never got into. Especially for hours.

I'll occasionally watch a 10-20min YouTube video of a person playing a game that I'm interested in to see highlights/reviews/etc, but watching the same streamer play the same game day in day out for hours? I don't get the appeal.

Unboxing videos are just like wtf though, pointless

the absolute worst thing on youtube is when i wanna look up a thing, like a movie trailer or something, and every single result is just "The thing you want, REACTION"

it happens way too often

and most of the time, by the thumbnail, it's just some fat dude staring at the screen, adding absolutely nothing

Personally I prefer comparison/benchmark videos when researching a product. For example, when I'm looking for a new CPU, I look for something like Ryzen 7 3700x vs Ryzen 5 5600x.
If it's something like a game or a movie, I just look up a review.
It's just a complete mystery to me why some people jizz all over unboxing vids, but then again a lot of things kids these days enjoy is a mystery to me.
