Hello everyone!
Tomorrow night I will be doing an educational stream where I teach the fundamentals of 3D modeling. This requires 0 previous experience and will serve as an introduction to the software and creating your first few models!

I will start the Twitch stream at 11:55pm PST 7/24/2021 (Just about 26 hours from this post) here: https://www.twitch.tv/mattthehat

If you would like to participate, please download and install the FREE software Blender (I use 2.8 but any version should be fine) before the stream.
Blender is a professional 3D modeling software that is quickly becoming an industry standard.

Why am I doing this? I feel like many people want to get into 3D model making/game creation/whatever but they see the software and get overwhelmed while trying to begin on their own, so my hope is to bridge that gap and help people get started!

After the stream is over I will also be passing out (and posting here) a curated playlist of next step lessons.

Upload it to YT if you can. I'll probably be sleeping by then lol I'm doing BlenderGuru's donut tutorial and it's a ton of fun. Blender is a lot easier to grasp than it seems.

I like BlenderGuru, but personally I'm not a fan of the donut tutorial as a first project. It ignores a lot of the fundamentals and throws you right into a lot of modifiers and such. Plus it's suuuuper long and that can be overwhelming for new people, ya know? That said, I'm really happy to hear you're enjoying it!!!

The donut tutorial has been pretty okay to follow along so far. Got to the end of the cup and just made the liquid. I think my main concern is not being able to remember a lot of the modifiers and stuff for future projects.

I didn't mean to shit on the donut that much, sorry if it was a bit harsh.
Different people learn at different rates and if you're getting through the donut and enjoying it then that's impressive in my book!

I'm a hobbyist, but I've been modeling off and on for about 8 years now.

I will post the YouTube video and tag everyone in this topic who is interested, along with my discord server invite so people can ask questions.

haha thank you!! i had a great time :D

I have to admit I'm not a complete beginner, I used Blender some years ago, but definitely needed a refresher. I picked up some new tools and techniques from your stream too! @ me if you do this again, i'd love to join in!

I've been doing 3D modeling as a hobby for a while now and I love to teach. I know some members of my twitch community where interested so I wanted to help people get started!
