That's some pretty bad fan fiction. Well now I know the origins of Mary Sue.

S2:E5 -

This episode sucked..... like really sucked.

That annoying spore organism came back for most of the episode.

The doctor who never should have been killed in the first place, is brought back in a completely ridiculous way even by ST standards.

Tyler comes back.... All of his speaking parts should just be given to one of the bridge crew.

And the worst part of this episode? Section 31 not only coming back... but now rewriting canon and establishing that apparently half of fucking starfleet knows about section 31.

By the end of the episode I just tuned out and was glad that it over.

Why are they so insistent on setting all modern Trek at or before TOS timeline?

They aren't. There are currently no Trek series set in this era, with only one upcoming series that will be. Out of Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, Brave New Worlds, and Prodigy, only one is set around the ToS era.

Aren't DIS and BNW both TOS era?

Section 31 was one of the worst things Trek ever did, because it gave terrible writers carte blanche to do whatever crazy shit they wanted to that goes against everything the Federation stands for.

I think DS9 does a good job at questioning what the Federation needs to stay in tact in a world with Klingon, Romulan, Ferengi, and Dominion secret intelligence. It's similar to how the USA preaches global freedom and tolerance while having one of the most ferocious and anti democratic intelligence agencies in the world.

Yeah I agree. DS9 walked that fine balance pretty well but I can see DIS has just said "fuck it."

S2:E6 - The Sounds of Thunder

This was a fucking great episode. Why can't DIS be more like this?! We got to learn a lot about two new species (I loved that both an intelligent prey and predator species evolved on the same planet). That twist was fucking awesome, and it was nice to see the sphere data make an appearance. And the message of both the Batlu(?) and Kelpiens having to learn to live in peace and find a new balance, was very Trek.

My only nitpick was not seeing the Batlu much, and the Red Angel having to prevent the genocide from occurring, and not the Batlu from stopping themselves and giving peace a chance. Would have felt more Trek in that regards.

S2:E7 - Light and Shadows

So I finally get to see Spock. Shame it isn't beardless Spock in his classic science officer blue uniform. But I'm sure I'll see him in that look soon.

This episode serves to just move the main plot forward. It wasn't memorable but it wasn't awful either.

I am hoping that THEY FINALLY TELL ME WHAT THAT ANDROID LOOKING THING IS! TNG made it absolutely clear that Data was the first android in Starfleet. I hope they expand on this robot bridge officer some more.

The Kelpians got some damn good world-building, and there's more to come.

Seasons 2 and 3 of Discovery feel more like Star Trek than season 1 and are frankly, just better. I hope Brave New Worlds is like season 2 of Discovery.

S2:E8 - If Memory Serves

Well it was cool to see Talos IV and the Talosians again. I like episodes where Pike gets a decent amount of screen time and dialogue.

It was nice to see non-crazy Spock. Here's hoping that he ditches the beard soon.

I am hoping they explain about this Android spy soon as well. They need to tell me what their race is :/ . It's bugging me now.

S2:E9 - Daedalus

Oh cybernetically augmented human being, how we hardly knew ye. Maybe if you had developed more as a character, your death would mean something. It's this unecessary killing off of characters that we don't know in order to enlisted a sad, and dark emotional response that is dragging DIS down for me.

I do like this actor playing Spock. He plays a good half human, half vulcan.

Spoiler Alert: The Red Angel is Burnham's mom. Or maybe Burnham herself? Or maybe Burnham is her own mother? I'm confused. Will sci-fi stories ever get sick of time travel?

S2:E10 - The Red Angel

So that funeral at the beginning felt like a funeral for a red shirt. I knew next to nothing about that character.

Once Leland told Burnham the truth about her parents, I began to suspect who the red angel might be. It's nice to finally know who this entity is. Now they just need to explain about this future AI some more, and why it tags alongside the red angel.

All in all this episode was mostly characters working out their feelings.

S2:E11 - Perpetual Infinity & S2:E12 - Through the Valley of Shadows

Well those AI nanoprobes would be of great interest to the Borg <.< . I'm a little confused though, are those nanoprobes from the future?

I'm glad they explained who the Red Angel is, must suck to constantly be brought to the same point in time. They said she was 50'000 lightyears from her previous location. Means she's way out in the Delta Quadrant. In a bleak post apocalypic future.

I'm happy to have seen the D7 battlecruiser. Not so happy to see the DIS Klingons. I'm also thrilled that I got to see why they call it the Christopher Pike medal of Valor. I love Pike more and more. If him and Sisko ever teamed up, galaxy better watch the fuck out.

S2:E9&10 - Such Sweet Sorrow

Well that was one hell of space fight. I didn't know the Enterprise could launch fighters in such large amounts. I was happy to see my D7's in action, even if I found the idea of Klingons helping Starfleet in this era to be laughable. I also loved seeing the original Enterprise in action. God damn it took a beating.

I was very confused with that Queen showing up in part one. I never watched any of those short treks. It threw me off.

I'm glad that the doctor decided to stay on, and that him and Stamnents have made up. I am very happy to have finally seen beardless blue shirt Spock.

So now Discovery is in the future. I am left very puzzled though.... did the mom rescue those WW3 survivors and if so how did she get them to that planet so far away, and in their present time not far flung into the future where she was constantly being pulled into too?

S3 wastes no time in wrapping up and then virtually never mentioning the Red Angel plot again, so I wouldnt spend much time thinking about it. The writers sure didnt.

I enjoyed seeing you praise S2 episodes 2 and 6, and Pike in general, as those were the only parts of the season that particularly worked for me.

Season 3 is a step forward in some ways, while amplifying the shows absolute worst tendencies in others. I keep watching out of some perverse franchise loyalty, but outside of occasional flashes I really dont think theres a good show at the core of Discovery.

That's a shame. They shouldn't just toss the red angel plot out the door so quickly.

I wish DIS was more like those episodes. I enjoy it when everyone pitches in to help a mission succeed, and they debate moral and philosophical issues along the way. I'm also a big geek when it comes to learning about trek species. I enjoy the lore of it. I was hoping DIS season 3 would be more like those two episodes. Still I'm going to keep an open mind and watch the first episode of s3 tomorrow evening.

S3:E1 - That Hope Is You: Part 1

So I didn't get a chance to watch last night. But I have finally started season 3.

Well this new future tech looks pretty cool. I like this newly introduced character Books(?). He's already growing on me.

It's a real fucking shame that this future has to be so dark. Blah... I'm not a fan of this burn or the collapse of the federation. Maybe things will get better and brighter? It would be cool to see some Delta Quadrant stuff. But with how bleak this future is.... wouldn't be surprised if the entire delta quadrant is Borg space now.

S3:E2 - Far From Home

The ending of this episode is just one giant eyeball roll. First time I think we have a non-Burnham episode, and she comes in to save the day. The crew of the Discovery can't do anything without Burnham I guess.

This episode did nothing for me anyways, I just wasn't feeling it. The colony seemed cool, with the parasitic snow but that's about it.

S3:E3 - People of Earth

Oh god we have a new Wesley Crusher.
I don't care that there's a trill involved.
-_________-

I'm glad that Saru got to be promoted to Captain. I'm also happy to see more Book. I'm digging him.

I'm already sick of this future. Even this Earth has become one giant asshole. Pretty silly that the other planets in the Sol system abandoned each other.

S3:E4 - Forget Me Not

It's the Trill homeworld! It's a spots all the way down trill! Oh.... the symbiotes have been devasted and Trill society is about to collapse.... Damn....

I'm happy to see Saru develop as a captain. I'm also glad the bridge crew got some interaction with eachother. The crew watching the movie at the end, definately had an ENT feel to it. I'm intrigued that the sphere seems to have become one with Discovery's computer. They're going to make DIS sentient. I think.

I could not give two shits about the Adira teenage love side of things. So that was all boring to me. I did like seeing the caves again. I am confused how Adira is supposed to save Trill society.

S3:E5 - Die Trying

Good-bye security chief! Never got to know you much, but at least you weren't killed off. It's a shame you didn't save the day, and instead Burnham had to do it instead. Crazy how she can communicate to your own species better than you.

So it was neat to see Voyager-J. Speaking of Voyager, it's crazy how the Doctor was a better programmed Hologram than these advanced future models. The Doctor would have never been defeated by blinking.

I like that the Temporal Cold War has had a lasting effect on the future. It's neat that it keeps being brought up.

Speaking of things being brought up. Burnham didnt forget her mom at the beginning of the episode, and kinda forgot about her at the episodes end.

S3:E6 - Scavengers

Burnham just fucking hates following orders. Holy shit lol. Poor Captain Saru :( . He showed her though, with the whole I'm not angry just disappointed speech. Now she's just a science officer.

The Bajorans made an appearance! Wooo! I find that the Andorians looked a lot better in ENT and were also a lot cooler . Its also a little strange that them and the Orions are such a threat. The future is weird.

I like how the comm badges are now Swiss army knives.
