Don't forget to parry him! You can parry the dive bomb and a few slashes. Don't get greedy though.

I was becoming VERY frustrated with Martyr so I moved back to kill Paarl and feel slight joy. XD

I went around and grabbed some survivors. I might have screwed myself over on the girl? The little girl who is the daughter of Father Gascione? I went back to her now and she cried a bit but wouldn't talk to me. I went and grabbed the Red Broach or whatever that Gascione dropped, but the girl was gone.

Oh, BTW, I ended my game time tonight (earlier) by getting to the first lamp in uh... Byrgenworth or whatever?

Yeah the girl's side quest takes place before you kill father Gascoigne. She doesn't respond well if you kill him first.

Ah, Byrgenwerth, the beginning of the scholarly attitude that formed around the Old Blood. Decrepit though it may be now, that place is extremely important in the lore.

iirc, Martyr Logarius(?) was the first boss where I felt I needed to summon for help.

Oh, and just an overall feeling of the game so far.

I can see why this was an entry point for many into SoulsBorne. The ambience and feel of the world is wonderful. I think I understand even less of what is going on compared with the Souls titles, but I care less? You are a hoonter, go hoont.

I like that the different weapons FEEL really different and the trick weapons are so much fun. The emphasis on aggressive play is also different from how I played Souls, since I love Sword and Board so much. Kirkhammer is so much fun.

Despite hating myself when I fight him, Martyr is my favorite boss so far.

I remembered the dude who kept talking about Logarius. Alfred or whatever? Found him and gave him the summons to go to the castle. He straight up murdered the queen! And seems a little crazy all things considered. However I could grab her remains as an item? Ick.

I explored around Byrgenwerth. Just some old dude in a rocking chair before what I assume will be a boss fight. I can summon someone nearby which is usually a good sign. LOL

LOL, I tried that on my second attempt.

First Attempt - Unsure what is going on, get nuked by its... magic? Is it throwing water at me? Oooof
Second Attempt - Try to blitz in, get destroyed by spider adds.
Third Attempt - Take out adds slowly, avoid shit, be patient. Win.

Also, I unlocked the Hunters Nightmare. I looked it up cause this seems like a half-way to 3/5ths of the way time and wanted to make sure I don't miss out on it.

Not much further now. I recommend after you beat the boss after Yahargul that you attempt the DLC

This is one of my least favorite areas. The first Upper Cathedral area boss is lame imo, but the second is really fuckin cool

I say Rom is the peak for base game bosses, then it peters out from there. I didn't break a sweat beating all the rest of the bosses.

Then the dlc came and kicked my ass. That is hard mode.
