...stories.

For example, I like Freeza from DB, yet some people claim that he's racist. He is, but so what? That's part of his charm. Why? Because it makes for an actually good villain that has a satisfying end. Villains don't always need redeemable qualities or Naruto emo levels like Nagato/Pain from the Akatsuki; it is completely okay to simply like a villain for being evil. You aren't a bad person for doing so.

Perhaps I've just been exposed to the wrong people, but nowadays it seems like with social justice issues at the forefront of our society, that people think you should cater to specific demographics or be aware of who you could offend; but the point of art is to literally do what you want with it. Nobody else's opinion should ever be relevant. Also, constraining yourself to cultural paradigms can certainly truncate the potential of your writing.

You also don't need a reason to be controversial in your works, either; not everything has to be morally upstanding all the time. It is okay to be selfish. I mean sure, call it bad writing in that case (because it is), but nobody needs to keep social mores in mind when creating fictional works. That's their work, not yours. You have no say in how they write it, and it's better that way.
I enjoy anime like Berserk and Hellsing where the violence and gore is unbelievably detailed, and again, I like them for that.

It isn't simply a reflection of the author's persona either, just in case anybody uses that argument; that's called morally projecting, and when it gets to that point, I'm not sure it'd be a good idea to indulge a discussion. There is NO inherent connection.

At most, I'd be okay with putting trigger warnings at the front of my hypothetical works of fiction if I were a mangaka or novelist

How am I supposed to know if I like them or not unless they lay out their political views

I hope it gets nipped in the bud. It's mostly a tumblr niche idea that gets amplified by people who enjoy having things to be angry about, which gets it to leak to the broader audience.

But yes: Bad guys are bad. That's the point.

Some people like villains just because they're bad; and that's okay.

I don't think it's just Tumblr; I had a few Facebook friends that were like this. In fact, the broader community that they were a part of (a debate group) was so left-leaning that I've seen them make similar statements such as this. They were also honestly ridiculous enough to tell my friend that he's racist for choosing not to learn additional languages to compensate non-English speakers.

Shit like this needs to stay the fuck out of fiction. Period.

I kinda miss villains just being villains some times. I also miss people being able to separate characters from their creators or the person portraying them. Most people have to walk on eggshells when creating because they can't say something that might offend a little too much, even if being offensive is the entire point of the character.

It's kind of aggravating. I always wanted to write, but it seems like too much hassle nowadays.

Same, but I have a very narrow opinion of humanity by default anyway, along with highly limited patience; so for me, it'd be even worse.

Shame people gotta suck so much. There's nothing they won't attempt to control with some arbitrary, quasi-useless hierarchical power structure.
