As far as I know, Scandinavians have never been the subject of significant racism in the United States, while Native Americans were systematically removed from their land and killed. Viking also refers to a specific, identifiable culture that no longer really exists, while 'Redskin' is as broad as all Native Americans. Like imagine if there was a sports team called the Kansas City Blacks and their team mascot was a mockup of Mansa Musa. Except instead of 'Blacks' it was a word that had official usage in the past but can also be a slur.
