In the context of "Hey you guys want me to order a pizza?" or something along those lines

I dont think ive ever seen a group of girls get offended by it IRL, but i increasingly hear people on the internet say that they would take offense to it.

I always felt that it is a mostly gender neutral thing, that any person would hear and understand without getting worked up over it.

I've addressed a group of girls as "you guys" and it feels weird.

See there's your problem. Those people don't have social lives anyway. At best, they have a friend or two, sometimes weirdos find each other.

Oddly enough, it's a regional thing. So folks not raised using it as gender neutral kind of don't understand

I work with a group of women, and I always say it, even though it does seem weird on when I think on it each time.

If it's mixed company, I always use "you guys."
If it's just girls, I usually say "you girls" but not always.

I've never heard someone IRL get offended by it either way, though.

I've seen women use the term when addressing a group of other women, not a man among them. So outside of the Twitter-verse people likely won't pay it any mind. It's usually treated as gender neutral in that regard, whereas substituting a different phrase which highlights the gender selection of a casual address would be seen as counterproductive in common settings.

Ive met women who dont even like being called girls. I didnt think they were serious at first, but I have to admit I havent been called boy in years and thats fine by me.
