I think even with self-driving cars, you're going to need a license.

Unless you live in a city with very efficient public transportation, getting from point a to point b is going to take longer. But beyond that, there's nothing inherently wrong with not wanting to drive. So you do you man.

For me, I live in Los Angeles, so I have to drive to get anywhere within a reasonable timeframe. For example, from work to home, it's about 15 miles. By bus, that's an estimated time of 1 hour, 40 minutes of I were to go home right now. Whereas driving home right now, would take 25-40 minutes.

I got my license when I was 17, but never bothered buying a car or driving at all until I turned 28 (I'm 29 now for reference). Ever since getting my own car, it's amazing that I ever managed to survive without one. I have a lot more freedom that I never used to have, like seeing friends without their assistance and going to whatever store I want to pick up an item. Before, I would sometimes be lazy and go to the local corner store instead of a grocery store where it's probably cheaper and I have more options.

Now I look back at all the times where I missed out on opportunities because I didn't have a car at the time. For an example, there were many times where I was offered a job but I turned it down because of transportation reasons. And a few times I could have went on dates but ended up canceling because I didn't feel like commuting there via taxi or bus.

You can definitely manage without a car, but it's more inconvenient that way. And don't you feel bad when you're hitching rides from your friends?

really depends on where you live, tbh. if you're in an area with adequate pubic transportation, like NYC or London, i see no issue with it. but if you're in a place like Columbus, OH that's damn near impossible to get around in w/o a car, that sounds like a potential problem.
