I just always asked them about stuff on their profile and tried to be as interesting as possible when they asked me questions. Throw in charm and jokes when you can. But I didnt use pick up lines.

Also, don't wait too long to ask them as they lose interest.

Idk, I used to really try to put effort into the messages. A comment/compliment about something about a pic, a question trying to learn more about the context of a pic, something related to her bio relating to my life, something that maybe other people wouldn't think to ask.

Eventually it's just like, fuck it. Just send whatever dumb shit you want. It's taxing to shoot tons of thoughtful, personal messages into the void. And when you match back anyway, it's not even like it's surely gonna go anywhere. You start a convo at 11pm, you go to bed at 11:30, she's already moved onto someone else the next day. Sometimes people just stop talking in general, or sometimes you stop talking to them.

Online dating has been so much easier when I don't give a fuck about it. I just send anything. Sometimes just random strings of letters. Who cares. No trying to stand out, no trying to be personal, etc. That doesn't mean never; there are some girls where I will do that if/when something genuinely caught my attention, but only if I feel like it.

Flirting online is awkward anyway, flirting is way better irl. You can make a normal conversation flirty with just body language and intonation and stuff. Online, unless you guys are on the same wavelength, sometimes it gets lost in translation.
