Even with cheese in mind.

With season 2 the school fight finale actually had pretty good lead up, the crazy teen hormones mixed with karate all coming to a head in a school rumble.

This time it was just... straight up home invasion?

And it still felt weak/underwhelming.

Felt like they really needed to wrap up the season quickly what with there only being 10 episodes.

And with a meager 10 episodes, they wasted so much time on Kreese backstory :/ ... and it went nowhere

I honestly thought with Kreese his sob story was gonna be that when he came back from the war his girlfriend shacked up with another man and that's why he's all cold and bitter and ruthless, but the backstory wasn't even about that. It was just... a waste of screen time tbh.

I was gonna do a watchthrough topic but I watch the episodes so sporadically that it would have probably purged. And I was all set to comment on how surprised/impressed I was that they got elizabeth shue, I'm glad she didn't think the show was beneath her or anything like that.

I thought that him going to Japan was going to lead to training with Chozen and learning the secret Tai Lee technique of chi-blocking whatever and then teach it to the rest of his students back home so they'd have a chance against evil cobra kai, but strangely enough they didn't go that direction either. Weird.

So is your biggest complaint that it didn't follow your fairly generic expectations?

Also have you ever considered watching a show at like around the time it comes out? It might help facilitate people discussing it with you.

Hawk, Robby... so much aimless stuff this season.

I like how Hawk just looks around during the fight and is like "hm I'm bored I'ma gonna switch sides and fight for the good guys now"

I feel like they were at least maybe gonna expand on Robby's increased popularity in Cobra Kai overshadowing Hawk and making him jealous which would ultimately lead to a tiff and then him joining "eagle fang"/miguel and demetri or I dunno, something.

But nope it just kinda happens. With a "welp, sorry bro" explanation to boot.

Been reading around and pretty much everyone is in agreement that the dude was calling Terry Silver and that he's going to be in season 4.

I don't remember kk 3 all that well but wasn't there also a crazy dude that danny was fighting, in addition to john and terry? He was in the flashback when daniel was telling sam about how he too was once afraid.

The thing is, like most people I much prefer seeing the adults and Daniel/Johnny scenes and interactions, so if they were gonna reduce action to focus on drama, it's much preferable to focus on them, rather than the teens. At least there wasn't as much CW-esque teen romance but still there in some capacity.

I also still think it's lol worthy that an out-and-out riot at the school is okay for these cobra kids, but something as normal as feeding a mouse to a snake is mean to be the line that makes them squeamish? Really?

They couldn't have done that scene any better? They literally had Kingsman to draw inspiration from, and I thought that's where Kreese was going with this, I thought that Kreese was going to tell him to kill the mouse in his hand or something barbaric like that, but instead it's just something as normal as "feed this to the snake" which millions of pet owners do every day

It's obvious they had no plans for a season 2.
Thankfully Tori pretty much saved season 2 to set up a final fight but like season 3 was all over the planet in terms of story.

Pretty sure that season 4 will be the last one, we have seen things unfold and the lead up to another tournament and the return of Terry Silver seems like the big finale.

I do not think anyone would want the show to be needlessly dragged out in a season 5.

Yeah, it needs to end with S4. They've already set up the big tournament, Godzilla and Kong are joining forces to take on Kreese and Silver, all you need to do is finish it like they're Goku and Vegeta; with a healthy respect for each other but with an understanding that they'll always be rivals at the end of the day.

Can we talk about how progressive Kreese is for allowing (and heck, outright wanting) girls in Cobra Kai? Wow very equality, much feminism. Who woulda thought it of Kreese, he might be the true hero after all. In his day girls were just damsels in distress that were meant to be saved and called babe and stuff.

I mean I did get slightly suspicious vibes of him wanting Tori in CK when he goes all the way to her apartment room, but it's probably not "that" and only because he respects her as a fighter, nothing more sinister than that.

So yeah. It's like "I may be a villain, but I'm not a sexist!"

Also I don't agree with those people calling Sam the worst and stuff naturally but... well... anyone notice that she lowkey kinda isn't that great? I mean she kinda does move fast between relationships, going from Kyler to Miguel to Robby back to Miguel in the blink of an eye, is very privileged and dismissive of how privileged she actually is (yes, Tory is wrong but Sam doesn't really get to say "everyone has a sob story get over it" when she's been living a life of luxury thanks to her parents and never known what it's like to grow up poor and struggling)

Not to mention the fact that she starts seeking out trouble (or maybe she always did) and doesn't leave well enough alone.

And she doesn't really want to acknowledge her faults. I do like her still but her doe-eyed, disney princess look belies a different kind of girl altogether interestingly enough, I wonder if that's intentional on the show's part.

Maybe a friend triangle would have been better with Tory, Aisha and Sam. Tory's friendship with Aisha could have humanized her a bit more and made her sympathetic, while Aisha could be torn between trying to get her old friend to reconcile with her new friend.

Think that's what bothered me about this season. Nothing happens. It seems entirely meant to set up season 4, so much so that it means season 4 has to be really great to retroactively make season 3 good. Heck since season 3 sets up the tourney for season 4, it would make sense if 3 and 4 were considered one season that was split in half.

And with only a few episodes each season, it seems obvious that after dragging for most of season 3, they had a "oh shit" realization that they were near the end of the episode count and had to make a finale that seemed as exciting and action packed as season 2's finale, hence the non-sequitur home invasion that felt like a surreal dream sequence Sam was experiencing for a minute there.

I actually like subplots and character development or character centric/oriented episodes. But this season was not that. I mean besides maybe Miguel, but at least his spine being fixed and able to walk was done a lot better than that crappy dark knight rises movie XD
