Yes. They are. It cannot hurt to wear one. Delta seems like it is not overtly dangerous to vaccinated individuals, but that may change with more evidence or the next variant.

Wash your damn hands, wear your damn mask, get your damn shot. Do not catch covid, if it doesn't kill you it can still cripple you permanently.

Yes, but only if you also wear one around your genitals. Try it, people will look at you with envy at your ribald safety.

It's either the savior we need
Reduces by transmission by 15%
Or makes it worse by aerosolizing it

Better safe than sorry, I guess

Ask yourself this:

if you were captured and tied up by some weirdo and he was about to fart in your mouth but gave you the choice of using a mask or not, would you want a mask to buffer some of the fart?

Weird how masks have been around forever but apparently don't work.

I guess Big Mask has been brainwashing society for a long time.

Um, yes it can. Any object can serve as a fomite especially if it is on your face. In fact, those 'breathable' polyester masks are objectively harmful overall. Cloth masks are effective the first time you wear them, but unwashed they serve as fomites. They should be taken off carefully.

Surgical and n95 masks are highly effective.

Everyone saying "yes" is only quoting the mainstream narrative. Show of hands: How many of you are actual scientists?

If the science says it's inconclusive and you automatically say "yes it is effective" then you aren't believing the science, you're believing the narrative.

given regardless of the variant its still going to be a coronavirus, the vaccine should work well enough to avoid a high hospitalization/death rate

This is going to confuse some people but if we're being honest, the second that the CDC said this stuff the first time.... yea that was the green light.

Crazy people had "mask burning" parties.

Oh fuck off.

The mast majority of science points to masks being effective. Oh sorry I'm not a doctor so I cannot use basic medical knowledge or medicine apparently. Nevermind.

i think it depends on the mask. anything that isn't a N95 has holes that are bigger than the rona so it isn't going to stop it passing through, but it'll muffle the spray of particles. So if someone with the rona wears a mask, they aren't going to spread it as effectively as someone without a mask.

But if you're wearing a mask and the person with the rona isn't, the mask isn't gonna protect you from it. :v You'll inhale the virus through your mask (unless it's a N95 mask).

So just get vaccinated. You can't count on the anti-vax dullards to wear masks and they're most likely to be spreading it.
